Fall Ball and Other College Baseball News
« on: August 01, 2020, 07:00:59 am »

We are pretty far away from fall ball but decisions are starting to be made in regards to what athletic events can be conducted during the fall semester.

Yurachek addressed baseball at the end of the recent press conference.  Mike Irwin asked Yurachek whether or not we planned on playing more exhibition games during fall ball (to make up for lost games last season) and Yurachek replied that he doesn't currently see us adding more fall ball games to the schedule.  Mike followed up if we were going to eliminate the two normal fall ball exhibitions and Yurachek said they haven't discussed it but it's a possibility for the games to be cancelled.

So... as of right now there probably won't be any exhibitions with other teams.  I'm sure we will still have fall ball and intrasquad scrimmages but you never know.  Feel free to post any info you find here.

Decisions about college baseball fall workouts will be made by conferences and schools on an individual basis, not by the NCAA, at least at this point. There’s been no request for guidance from the NCAA from member schools/conferences. This should be really interesting.

There are certainly some conferences (definitely schools) that will be very conservative on fall workouts for baseball (and other spring sports). Meanwhile, other schools will proceed as normal. Definite advantage.

WTS — I’m OK with this approach. Other schools shouldn’t be forced to not practice or practice on a limited basis because another conference/school decides they’re going to be limited.

If nothing else I hope they scrimmage teams in state like UCA, UAPB, UALR, and Astate.  Probably wishful thinking though
