Who's the Lee Mayberry/Cory Beck of this group?
« on: April 20, 2020, 04:00:55 pm »

For you who have seen them play or know them, who will be the leader?  Who has those qualities?

Lee Mayberry could and would take over a game in overtime (Texas).  There was no question who would have the ball in his hands.

Cory Beck-Who is tougher than Memphis born and bred Cory Beck?  During the 94 national championship game, the team was getting beat on the boards.  Beck, during a timeout, punched Williamson in the chest and told him to start rebounding.  He started rebounding.

Who among this new group will rise up, take charge, put the team on his back at crunch time?  Did I read somebody mentioned bring back hell to the hill?

KK is that leader you speak of. He is the next Mayberry/Beck/Reid.

Actually we have 4 PG.  newly added Jalen Tate has the most experience next to JD Notae.  Both of the two newcomers are really good.  Devonte Davis was said to be the steal of this 6th rated Class of 4 Stars.  But KK Robertson is a very very good one also.  We are Good PG poor and thatís a good thing.  The two Freshman WILL lead us to new heights for sure.  The 4 Bigs are going to be the biggest difference next year.  Would love to add the Haarms kid from Purdue but we will be fine.

KK seems to fit the mold more than any others.

The first time I watched KK's Oak Hill highlights the first words out of my mouth were Lee Mayberry. He is so steady, and smooth, always seems to do what is needed. Doesn't seem to force things that aren't there. Has a full aresenal of skills.

Mayberry was special.  After I watched his high school championship game, someone pointed out that we were losing guards to graduation.  I replied, "We are not losing anyone--Mayberry's coming."  Even in high school, Mayberry was clearly much better than any guard Nolan had.

Cool topic! It begs the question, Is there a May/Day combination in this class?

Day and Mayberry were McDonalds All-Americans but who knows, it's possible that a couple of players might outplay their rankings.

It definitely helps that KK and Moses played elite competition this year.

Yes, it does. Hopefully, we have Moses for two years because he seems to have the most "pro potential" of the incoming freshmen.
