Get ready for a September Ky. Derby assuming there will be a Derby at all this year.

The hysteria grows.

I feel as if I'm being herded with scores of other people toward a giant vat of Kool Aid, while in the visible distance is a spaceship where the well heeled are being shepherded.

Kentucky Derby will be September 5th.
If Churchill wanted to show real leadership, it would cancel the Derby for 2020 and -- in 2021 and thereafter -- run it as a race for 4-year-olds.  No more of this pushing young immature (both physically and mentally) horses towards a destiny that isn't theirs. Imagine what an extra year might mean for a horse like Dennis' Moment, which from what I've read has no business pointing for the Derby based on his mental makeup.

That way, this year's 3-year-olds don't lose their opportunity at the Classics.

Sure, there'd be squawking from the bloodstock industry, which would have to carry their stock for an extra year, but so what?  Just turn the horses out for another year and let them get strong on their own running around the paddocks. The rest of the industry would fall in line soon enough.

Just saw this before I started a new thread.  I don't know how I feel about this honestly.  I'd almost just like to see it not held at all versus done in Sept.

Good question because Breeders Cup comes in early November.

Move the BC to New Year's Eve?
