How old were you?
« on: February 14, 2020, 01:16:46 pm »

How old were you the last time Arkansas made the 2nd weekend of the dance?  The sweet 16.  The year was 1996.  I was born in 1980 and am turning 40 this year.  I was 15.  Crazy.  Anyone that knows me knows I like hog football & baseball, but hoops is my 1st love.  I used to crank the radio up to listen to games while I shot in the front yard.  Mayberry back rimmed a jumper....I would too.  I have zero doubt Muss can get us back.  Looks like I'll be in my 40's when it happens.  Just glad we have the guy that can get us back.

13 and in early middle school.

37 with a wife and two kids now.

That is insanely sad and should have NEVER happened at a place like Arkansas.

So many stupid decisions made with basketball.  The Nolan fiasco that was handled horribly then two really bad hires.

We had some decent teams that had the tools to get there but, again, more really bad decisions and really bad coaching.
We lost to bucknell in Dallas when we had Brewer. Come on, that was our home away from home down there and we blew it.
There was a real screwjob vs Carolina in 17 and we under performed in 15 vs Carolina with Qualls and Ports.
Another one was the clunker vs Butler. We had a real strong squad and completely no showed. Super disappointing and the beginning of the end of the Anderson era.

We will be finally restored with Eric Musselman.

I'm old enough that I taught Noah how to build things, I was always wondering why he had such a fascination with making little boxes that would float on water and animals.  I'm glad he invited me along in the first Ark he built or I would have missed Arkansas winning their only basketball National Championship.

31, I Remember the listening to the Triplets and the first game I ever saw on TV we were playing Wake Forest in the NCAA Tournament, I've saw so many great Hog moments, a lot of Favorites but when U.S. Reed knocked down that Half Court shot to knock UCLA out, sticks with me, that and Strolling with Nolan. So many I better stop or I'll be here all night. I have to mention Thurman..

One more, It should have been Sid and Magic instead of Byrd. A mysterious traveling call, I believe on Reed.

Was 15. I remember being so spoiled to our success that I was aggravated we got beat so early. Jeez, so spoiled. Now I'm 39 married with 2 kids, my oldest isn't much younger than I was then. They love sports but they really can't wrap their heads around all the success I so often talk of from that era. Been a while...lots of water under the bridge for sure.
Besides UNLV is there any other program who wins the National Championship and two years after go on a 23 year drought from the second weekend of the Big Dance?

Got you all beat so far. I was five years old. What I remember is wanting to love the Hogs just like my dad did. When the Hogs were playing, there were no other plans. We dropped whatever we were doing and watched. I remember thinking as a little girl how cool it was to see my dad get so ďfired upĒ and into the games, how invested he was. Unfortunately Iíve not truly gotten to experience what those elite Hog hoop teams were like, but Muss has me super hopeful!
