Interesting timing not waiting until after spring practice.  Will be interesting to see where he ends up.

RB in next years class is going to be a major need.  Will only have RS Sr Smith, RS So Spivey and RS FR D.Johnson on the roster in 2021.  Need to get 2 big timers

I would absolutely take a traditional transfer that has to sit one year like former 5* Rickey Slade from Penn St.  he would sit 1 play 2 and be a RS Jr and would completely   balance out the classes for 2021 with a RS Sr, RS JR, RS So and RS Fr

Like we did with Smith last year, couldn’t hurt.

What does this do to numbers? Does it give us an extra spot to add Xavier Kelly and Ebony Jackson?

They could take a blueshirt, and count them against next year’s class, actually a couple, now.

I'd like to see Zach Evans be given an opportunity to discuss this scholarship with our coaches.

Really wish the Duke K wouldn’t take up a scholarship on this years class.  We had Sackett who we could have given a scholarship to Sackett and not lost one in this class

This Duke kicker cracks me up. He has his own thread but he always seems to hijack any other named thread in the forum 😂

Me too, especially since we still have needs at other positions for depth.  Either Pitt doesn't see any more guys out there that fills the bill of what he wants, or this kicker is a dead-on sniper from 50-55 yards and in.

Two things. Obviously CSP feels strongly about ST or you wouldn't hire Scott Fountain specifically for the job. Please correct me  but I don’t think  we have ever  had that level of a special teams coach. Second, it is unfortunate Chase didn’t get much help from Chad after BB was gone. Nevertheless he is somewhat small. Looking at the types we are recruiting now, he is definitely smaller. So good luck to Chase. They are a vol family. And I wouldn’t be surprised to see some more portal activity.

JohnL was pretty good.

Say what you want about the guy (no really, I do whenever he gets mentioned) but special teams while he coached them were really special.

Agreed.  He was the best STC in the business.  IF Fountain is as good as JLS then we are 1/3 of the way to being back on track to respectability

OK. No argue. What makes Fountain elite is the added ability to recruit. He is also way up there in that category. JLS was a little short in that area.  CSP knew what he wanted. And he’s not taking chances on a missed 28 yarder beating us in his first year.

Not hating on CH but he never gave CSP and Briles a chance to see if he could work in the system. Sorry, I think that is short-sighted. Especially considering the coaching he had before, or lack thereof.

I sure hope not.  Every transfer out from this point has the potential to sabotage our growth.  Based on an article I just read in another thread, if we run out of walk-ons who have been here for more than a year, and are still under 85, we would not be able to have any early enrollees.

I don't know how many walk-ons we have who have been there for over a year.

Good call, he was a very good ST coach here.  I'll never forget one time we had some type of breakdown on ST's (I don't remember it being a major deal, but....) and Bobby's face turned bright red and he jumped into JLS' face and raised hell, screaming and spitting.  Poor ol' JLS looked like he'd just seen a ghost, a UFO, and flash grenade all at the same time.

We give him a hard time because he did totally melt down after the Bobby mess screwed everything up, but he did an excellent job with our ST's.

TJ Hammonds and Luke Jones are Scholarship caliber players that are currently walk on.

So, we could lose one more and for sure have quality players on scholarship

Scott Fountain just going by his teams stats is most likely the best SP coach out there right now.

There aren’t a lot SP only coaches but his teams Kickers have been great.

I had no idea Hammonds is a walk on. Is this because he “left” the team for a period of time last year?
