Gary Barta just said on a zoom call that they haven’t given up on having Kinnick stadium open for fans this coming season. Said they’re looking into numerous ways to mitigate the risk.

Barta said Iowa players will be asked to sign a pledge to live right and not take risks in public.

Report: Tennessee RB arrested in Florida on gun, drug charges

Quote
Tennessee running back Tim Jordan was arrested early Saturday morning in Florida

Jordan was arrested at 5 a.m. Saturday in Lakeland, just north of the running back’s hometown of Bartow. Jordan, a senior, faces charges of carrying a concealed firearm, possessing narcotic paraphernalia and possessing 20 grams or less of marijuana. The firearm charge is a third-degree felony. According to the report, two Lakeland police detectives observed a vehicle speeding and “swerving repeatedly” into the bike lane.

Officers reportedly stopped the vehicle and noted smelling “a strong odor of cannabis emanating from inside.” Jordan, 20, was driving and accompanied by a 17-year-old male passenger whose name was redacted. Both men “seemed extremely nervous.”

Jordan reportedly told the officers he was carrying a gun in his back pocket without a concealed carry permit. A Ruger LP pistol was found in his back pocket, loaded and unholstered. Detectives also found a small bag containing about 9.25 grams of marijuana, as well as a scale and several small plastic bags.

Both men were arrested.

In 2019 he was third on the team in rushing with 104 carries for 428 yards

In the years covering various drunk driving charges across America, we’ve learned there’s a spectrum ranging from “Super Extreme DUI” (AZ) to “DUI Less So” (GA) — we recommend against both.

LUBBOCK, Texas — Texas Tech football player Caden Trey Leggett, 20, was arrested on Saturday for racing. He has since posted bond to get out of jail while the criminal case is pending.

Leggett was listed Thursday morning on the Texas Tech Athletics website as a wide receiver for the Red Raiders football team.

A police officer wrote in a report, “While sitting in the parking … [at] 98th and Indiana, I observed three vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed northbound in the approximate 10000 block of Indiana Avenue.”

“I observed all three vehicles pass through the intersection 98th and Indiana, continuing northbound, at a high rate of speed and through a green light,” the police report said. “Due [to] the rate of speed of all three vehicles, and the lack of other traffic on the highway, I was easily able to determine the vehicles were competing…”

Leggett was pulled over in a Mustang. A second vehicle was described as a Dodge Challenger.

“[Leggett] admitted that he was racing the driver of the Dodge Challenger,” the police report said.

“I observed [Leggett’s] cell phone to be in the center console cup holder of the vehicle. I observed the screen to have a map on it, with what appeared to have a designated route to be traveling. It appeared the map on [Leggett’s] cell phone was a predetermined course … to race on.”

The police report indicated the other two drivers did not stop and would also be charged with racing when they are located.

The case against Leggett was charged as a class B misdemeanor.

Texas Tech Athletics is aware of an incident involving members of its football program from this past weekend. At this time, Texas Tech continues to gather facts regarding the situation and will handle the matter in accordance with the Student-Athlete Code of Conduct process.

Thompson allegedly didn’t stop when a police officer attempted to pull him over for a traffic violation on Friday; this was only 10 min after another officer stopped him on suspicion of speeding; with his ID known, police called off a brief pusuit (sic) and arrested him on Sunday.

Tennessee defensive lineman Emmit Gooden dismissed from team following arrest

This isn't good news for Tennessee's team

Quote
Gooden got into an argument with a woman and her boyfriend when things turned violent. He then allegedly smashed a glass jar candle into the side of the woman’s head and she needed sutures at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

Jeremy Pruitt dismissed Gooden from the team Thursday, and he became the second Vols player to be dismissed this summer. Running back Tim Jordan was the first following his May arrest in Florida.

Although Gooden missed the 2019 season due to an ACL injury, he could have been a starter along the defensive line in 2020. Gooden, Darel Middleton and Aubrey Solomon would have been a strong defensive line unit.
