Watching Houston-KC today, was anyone reminded of Arkansas-Mizzou 2016?

(1/1)

Mo_Better_Hogs:
I should just leave it like a quiz. But if you forgot---Arkansas, like Houston, jumped out to a 24-0 lead. Then lost when Mizzou scored 28 straight, unanswered points.*

Of course, ours was one half to the next. Today was one quarter to the next. And the Chiefs didn't stop there, they kept pouring it on.

Maybe most have forgotten that game, maybe on purpose. But sadly that one still sticks with me as a sour loss, and a very strange one as well.

*My bad, it was the next game, the bowl game vs Virginia Tech that we were up 24-0. Mizzou did score 7 in the first half, meaning we were up 24-7 at half. But that's okay, those 2 games are really considered a "pair" anyway. Sort of the Part I/Part II of the end of Bielema.

Big difference is that KC largely gifted Houston that lead and had something like 5 huge drops in that first quarter as well. Once the stopped fumbling and dropping everything, well, we got the game everybody expected.

With Ark vs Mizz, we completely dominated them. The qb missed a few open deep throws in that first half, but otherwise, it was us dominating them.

However, come 2nd half, they adjusted, we as usual did not. They hit a couple of those deep throws and we folded.

Better example IMO would be the Falcons Patriots superbowl.

That was nearly identical to our games IMO.

Bill Obrien should be on the chopping block...

and well the Chiefs have the best player in the NFL... and finally a defense good enough to take pressure off him unlike last season...

Did you see his post-game interview?  He looked like he was about to fire himself.

No way he gets brought back imo... and their is one man they should seriously look at hiring... and hes on the staff that just scored 51 on them..

liljo:
Go Chiefs.

That's all I'm gonna say 'bout that.

Go. Chiefs.

Cotton:
Reminded me of the Belk Bowl or whatever the hell that was when we lost to V Tech. That was 35 unanswered points.

Interesting fact on the chiefs.... Since Mahomes and Bienemy have been in the situation they are the chiefs have not lost a game by more than one score... pretty impressive.

I was speaking more about the numeristics--at the time it was sitting on the 28-24 score, which was our Mizzou score.

But I agree, the game itself yesterday had odd circumstances. And if illustrating our "meltdown" something like that Pats-Falcons Superbowl is a better fit.

This one indeed was the bigger example of our short-circuiting at the end of 2016.
