I've heard that Chavis was leaving anyway even if Morris hadn't been fired. My guess is he is retiring to the nice home that he and his wife have in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Wrong again Guv..........

So how soon/far off can we expect some kind of announcement from the University regarding these coaching hires?

Is it anywhere possible they will release something on Friday to give us an idea who may be on board so far?

I actually would be okay with Kenny Ingram and Ron Cooper staying.  Coach Pittman may want 2 Defensive Line Coaches, a Coach just coaching the Defensive Tackles and a Coach just coaching the Defensive Ends.  That may signify Tray Scott and Ingram.

Cooper has a lot of SEC experience.

Regarding Kevin Sherrer, he could be the Linebackers Coach (he has coached both Outside Linebackers and Inside Linebackers).
could also be the special teams coordinator

The coaches page has been updated. I wonder if these are the coaches he is keeping.

https://arkansasrazorbacks.com/sport/m-footbl/roster/#coaches

That means nothing except that those guys are still are on staff. Despite everything written the only thing made official by UofA has been Pittman. Names are taken off as they leave.

French and his boys won’t even get a sniff from this staff. Bridge has not been burnt, nuked is probably more like it.

Possible DC?

Odom appears to be the guy for the DC. Probably LBs and possibly Special Teams.

Heard it bantered about radio today, but can't find any sources to back that up besides talk radio. His name is being linked as a "hot board" candidate at several places.

As far as the criticism of Chief goes, I will be curious to see how good the defense will be next year. Chief was said to have thought that the personnel he had to work with were the least talented he had seen in his career. Complaint or truth? Hope it was sour grapes but next year will be interesting.

It's probably true, but I didn't see him doing a whole heck of a lot to improve the talent pool.  There are teams with far less talent than what we possess that have far better defenses.  It was a poor scheme and the fundamentals were atrocious.  It all falls back on him.  He fielded two of the worst defenses in school history.  We aren't known as a defensive juggernaut, but we've had decent defenses over the years and even at the worst times never have looked this bad.

I saw on a UGA forum that rumor is in Georgia that Pittman is trying to pluck Lanning after the bowl game. Don't know how much truth there is to is but that could be interesting.

I know the UGA folks were sweating about that FSU opening.  Once they filled that there was some relief on their parts.  To be honest though, I don't think many of them view us as anything to be concerned about.  It's hard to blame them at this point though.  Pitt is a hell of a recruiter,  but it would be hard to see him stealing any of their recruits especially the ones East of the Mississippi.  Maybe he can get after Lindbergh or SVP.  As a coach, you would have to be pretty unhappy with the work environment at UGA to leave there for the uncertainty that our defense presents.  We're not going to be able to outbid them so it won't be a $$ move for Lanning.  I'm all for asking, but it's not something that I'd be expecting.  We need a hire ASAP so if there's not a guarantee on his end, we need to move on.

Reports sometimes become reciprocal. One person says something and someone publishes it, then another publishes based upon that report, and so on, and so on. Will wait for an official release from UofA.

Wasn't trying to be a "know it all" on what information you provided. I appreciate the info and I did add to the notes section below. I saw it on Coachingsearch.com and 24/7 too besides Saturday Down South. SDS typically doesn't break anything just a click bait, piggy back off what others are reporting site, but neither here nor there. Like I said I do appreciate the information you provided. It is hard to catch everything and I can always use the help.

Morris was a slogan machine.  Pittman is a coach
Morris by a land slide is the SEC worst HC coach ever. His bio reads, "Mr. 0-14 SEC"

Slowly, but surely, the SMU mafia will find jobs.

Morris: OC at Auburn (may he destroy their mojo as well)
Traylor: HC at UTSA (Best of luck)
Lunney: OC at UTSA (learn everything you can learn and return to UA some day)
Chavis: "Thanks for visiting WalMart"

I know it's wrong. I'm posting it anyway.

Freeze is a good football coach and a very good O/C.  You may not like him but he can coach.

With early signing period just around the corner why is it taking so long to get people in place kids want to know who there coach is and what we will run?
I think you want to know. Have patience.

Right now CSP and staffs main goal is not to get guys to sign with UA, but it is to get them to not sign early with other schools and give the Hogs a shot. This allows them to see our staff and know who they will be playing for and more importantly start developing relationships (which is CSP m.o. in recruiting)

I honestly think this is the best strategy given CSP awesome way of developing relationships. I am sure he is saying "if so and so school really wants you they will wait"  This allows him the opportunity to take his time and hire the best staff during the dead period. The recruits will hear who we hire and talk about it which is another way to keep the Hogs in front of them during the dead period. Just my take.

Was reading this article on Odom...

... and it mentions this at the end.

"Patrick Doherty, who has been a quality-control assistant at Georgia since 2016, is expected to join Pittman's staff at Arkansas, a source with knowledge of the hire said."

I was thinking today that it would be cool to have Iowa's tight ends coach in light of how many NFL tight ends Iowa produces. Unfortunately, it's Brian Ferentz the coach's son.

He needs to take a look at Lunney and take a coach away from home and dad. It would suck for him now personally but professionally it would be the best move he could make.

He should. He has had a great career and it seems the game may have passed him by. Why take on the aggravation? Go enjoy the nice retirement you built for yourself.

He didn’t do well here yet he manned up to the blame. I still like him as a person.

Well since he has coached at Tenn during the 90s when they were rolling and LSU and A$M, I imagine this was the least talented group he has worked with in while if ever, but he knew this coming to the job.  It wouldnt take rocket scientist to see that the Hogs were down in the talent category.   I believe the fact is Chief does NOT like to recruit and the other schools where he coached, the recruiting was pretty much done for him and all he had to do was coach.

Its too bad that it didnt work out with Chief.  I wanted him to succeed.  I felt he was the only coach on the staff who truly knew what it takes to win in the SEC and now he will leave with negative feelings about ARK.   But hey,  we were led to believe that the best D Coordinator in the country was coming to ARK, but that just turned into another Hammer Down, Left Lane, Full Tilt Boogie crapt that The Chad spewed when he got the job.

Here's to hoping Barry Odom gets it going defensively at ARK.

We haven’t had a decent defense in years. With the one year exception of 2015. 3 to 4 DCs have failed in recent years. Our defense hasn’t tackled well, played the ball while in the air nor taken the  appropriate angles on runners. So something strange is happening regardless of who the DC is.
