Our budget was very close to Ole Miss, Missouri, and FSU. If they perform they will get raises. Look at norvell staff. It looks good, but not big time hires for most part. Kiffin has a 1st time DC

No, that isn't totally the reason. We are being told no expense is being spared and the pocket book is open. If that is the case, we expect people hired who are proven to know what they are doing. He have had too many coaches hired recently that were getting on the job training as they went. You cannot compete in the SEC if you are having to teach coaches how to coach their position. We must move past that. We have to have proven coaches that can recruit to get out of this mess and we don't have years to see if unproven coaches can do it.

Well..get the torches...fly the banners...Fire Pittman!!! Geeze.

Oh Lord help. I am tickled with Coach Pittman. Please tell me what is wrong with wanting a staff that can actually coach their way out of a paper sack? Has the last two years not been miserable enough? We have a first time head coach. The last thing he needs on his plate is training coaches. 5 million dollars was put on the table to ensure he does not have to do that.

We paid the last staff $5M and they couldn’t coach their way out of said sack, it’s more than money. Unless you have a $7M budget for the staff like Bama, Georgia, LSU, or Clemson, you have to take a couple of reaches.

You say you are happy with Pittman but then turn around and say he hired a staff that can’t coach its way out of a paper bag.

Whatever.

CSP has assembled a solid staff. He has big time OC/DC  hires with solid OL/DL coaches with SEC experience.

No, I simply added to the conversation that there is more to why some are leery of unproven coaches. It wasn't a personal attack against you, or your family, or your belief system. It was merely a comment about what some people other than you think.

Arkansas: Former Missouri linebacker and graduate assistant Michael Scherer has accepted a position with the Razorbacks, per Gabe DeArmond.

I trust Odom on the CB hire. Worked with him for 4 years. He knows if he is ready or not. I suspect he will be a good recruiter. No idea how good of coach he is.
There is a reason you hire experience.

There is a reason you hire experience.

And there is also a reason to hire young up n comers. Barry Odom went from Dir of Football Ops to Safeties Coach to DC at Memphis in 4 years.

You mean the same Memphis that Norvell was at that many people on here didn't think he was good enough to be our HC?  LOL!!! Didn't want Norvell but Odom is a catch.    Just couldn't resist.

Odom was at Memphis with Justin Fuente. I was all in on Norvell in 2017 until I was told he wasn’t going to be the guy. Barry Lunney was coaching HS ball until he was hired by Bielema, Jeff Traylor went straight from HS to being an assistant at Texas.

I could go on but the bottom line is every staff needs a good mix of veterans and youth and I think Pittman has done a good job of that.

Look for former University of Miami Offensive Quality Control - QBs coach Jesse Stone to be on the Arkansas staff in some capacity.

I might be bias a little because I wanted Pittman from the start but I didn't think he'd leave Georgia but I think Pittman did a good job on his hires. I mean we couldn't draw a proven HEAD COACH so why think we would hire proven staff (overall I think we did). I mean surely no one thought we would just take the list of Broyles Award finalist offer them jobs and they all come?! Money wasn't the problem right now the Arkansas job just isn't a destination for coaches that have very successful resumes. But on the other hand we need coaches that are good at teaching and improving players. Overall the last few years our players have not improved that much each year they are in the program. I think these guys understand that better than the last 2 regimes.

Not sure yet. I keep looking as these staffs fill up. The demand is not high for 2019 Razorback football staff members, not opinion, just reality.

Look for UGA staffer Fernando Velasco to be joining the staff possibly, possibly as a player development position. He's a behind the scenes ace recruiter, supposedly.

I can’t remember a high school snap that moved so slow. Surely, one person on the staff noticed that.
The slower than mollasses snap was a tale-tell sign that AR didn't have an SEC caliber OL coach.  Chadgie was the only person not seeing that.  This explains why Chadgie was winless in SEC over 2 seasons.

the problem was not our coaches it was the people that hired them, note that none of those people are there today
