Wonder if Blake Anderson stays at ASU with his wife Wendy losing her battle with cancer?

If he isn't back next year it will only be because he decided to step down and take a break from football or some other, and bigger, school came calling.
ASU won't fire him because with what he has gone through this year that would be a catastrophic backlash from the NCAA football community. That is one black eye ASU will not self administer.

Oh, I don't believe they would fire him at all. I meant because he might need a change of scenery or some quiet time.

I'd take Taggert in a heartbeat as an RB coach.  He is a really good recruiter.  Just not HC material.

You never know.  You get some national guys saying what a great coach he is and what a great fit he is, then some of the GOBs might start to sway, make it their own idea so they can take credit.  Well we can hope.

My thinking:
  • USC (if they fire Helton): They're in position to get who they want.
  • Florida St: They get a better choice than UA. Easier recruiting.
  • Arkansas: 3rd most desirable job.
  • Rutgers: Need someone familiar with east coast recruiting or an alumni
Of the 4 openings, we are; as it stands now, 3rd most desirable.

Well we don't have an opening right now.  But to your point, USC is said to be focusing on James Franklin.  If he does leave for USC you have to put Penn State above Arkansas.  There may be more openings that are better than the Arkansas job before it is all said and done.

If that happens look for Matt Rhule or even Matt Campbell to be on PSU's target list.  Franklin is a good fit for USC as he likes the spotlight.

Rhule played at PSU and Campbell played at Pittsburgh so I would imagine Rhule having a the edge there if they have to decided to pick one over the other.

I'd take Leach, as long as he could secure Jim Leavitt as his DC.

Would Leach be interested considering it seems that he was overlooked last time? Not sure. But I know this, we would have a wide open offense and a QB that would be developed. How would Leach like to have 2-3 years with Jefferson and these receivers? And I have no doubt that neither Leach or Leavitt would play favorites. You would at least see guys that produce on the field. I'd love having those two guys and the cherry on top would be to hire Sam Pittman back as the OL Coach. Yeah, I'm dreaming.

Looks like Greg Schiano could be returning to Rutgers.

I posted in another thread I have recently read two different articles that gave two different reasons why Schiano left the Patriots before ever coaching a down.  The first said he resigned to clear the way for a return to Rutgers.  The second said that his family is settled in Ohio and he doesn't want to move them again.  I guess we'll know the truth when the Rutgers job is filled.

KJ would have no chance with Leach unless he suddenly became an accurate passer. All of Leach's QBs had average arm talent but very accurate and not one of them was a good runner.  The current KJ looks like he would be most effective in a Dan Mullen type offense ala Nick Fitzgerald.
Leach would be about #50 on my list of desirable coaches.  Poor recruiter and we have hard time recruiting here as it is so we need a dynamic recruiter.  Plus his ego is so big he wants to throw the ball when up by 35 points instead of working the clock and running the ball.  he can't even run the ball on third and short.

I don't know why it closed after the last hire to begin with. Most fans did not like the hire but felt obligated to buy-in by mob mentality. That, and it's not put up on a Hogville Poll because Frito Pie would be coaching now now if Hogville decided.

You could say the same about Mike Gundy in terms of recruiting and yet, he remains at the top of every list of coaches named as being desirable when we have a coaching opening.

Leach has a way of taking QB's and developing them and while he prefers to throw, I doubt that he would object to a QB that could make yards when nothing else is available. He also has a way of helping receivers find open spots where they can make YAC. And his offense offers a great opportunity for a good RB, though he throws a great deal.

A lot of folks aren't high on Leach and though he had success in the Big 12 and has had some success in the Pac 12 (at an outlier destination such as Pullman), we've yet to see what he would be like versus the defenses of the SEC aside from a stop at Kentucky in 97-98 where they went just 5-6 and 7-5 while he was there, moving on to Oklahoma with Bob Stoops in 1999 and then as HC at Texas Tech from 2000-2009.

You mean like Hatfield did there, had a losing record and had to leave. Their answer is to drop down a level.

Some of you guys are amazing with your made up truisms that are simply not true. Both of our young quarterbacks are very accurate with their passing. With all due respect prove to us that JSJ and KJ are inadequate passers or either one if that is the case.

Often wondered why they haven't. Rice is really all about academics. Football is just an afterthought. They are like the Vanderbilt of Texas. I went to a couple of games down there over the years when we were in the SWC. Totally benign atmosphere. I wore a Hog hat at one and everyone around me introduced themselves like we were at an English tea. Very strange. And,much preferable than worrying about getting mugged by a corn dog.

What exactly did you see today that makes you think that either are accurate passers? The proof is in the pudding.  Have you watched during real game time situations, like...today?  Just remind me of their passing stats...I forget.

So what coach out there has proven he can consistently win the games he should win while also win a meaningful number of games in which he’s the underdog?
