How do you feel about Markuson. I think he did a good job here and Bielema offered him up as a sacrificial lamb but we know how Bielema did here. Maybe it was Bielema that should have been let go at Wisconsin.

He last coached in the CFL in 2017.  I can't find that he is currently coaching anywhere.

Think a better question would be, how many people on the board actually remember Mike Markuson?

A lot of people here were probably too young to know what was going on when he was a coach here...

Why does everyone want a retread? From HC to position coaches. You know there are some absolutely amazing coach's who have never coached for Arkansas and coach teams that beat other teams including Arkansas.

Seems like we're fairly filled up on scapegoats. Passing on MM seems like a prudent move.

Very underrated and not given a lot of credit while here. Looking back, he made more 2 star linemen into All SEC caliber players than most anyone. He made 2 star players plow Dlines when they KNEW we were going to run and they opened holes anyway.

GREAT!!  Now what there qualifies him to be a freaking head coach....to win again we are going to have to break this cycle of self hate.

Many are reacting like he would be a terrible choice (offensive line coach, not Head Coach) and know that his connection to Nutt probably clouds many opinions, but not so sure that we have had any better offensive line play in the time since he left (including Pittman's time).  While Sam may be a better coach, his time at Arkansas, in my opinion, did not produce better offensive line play.

Nothing and I wasn't implying him to be the next coach. I have continuously said we will never get a coach because the PTB/BOT won't ever open up the checkbook for the right coach. HY should already have an amount from both Stoops and Meyer. I don't care if the money they tell you is $50M. You get to a dang number and it starts with those 2, right now, before the end of season coaching hot potato switching starts.

All I was saying is MM was not given a lot of credit for how solid of a OL coach he was here.

Are you serious Clark? Pittman is 10 times the coach Markuson is.

I actually think they are playing better than last year, but still not up to par and no where close. No where close being cannot get a 4th and inches on a QB sneak, or a 3rd and 1, or push the pile on a consistent basis. Too young, no strength. We need to be playing with RS JR/SR's and instead we are playing with true JR or true SO or true Frosh or a converted DL who should have never had to switch. That is the reality, yet, IMO, they are playing better than last year.

Iím sorry I was not more clear. Unlike many I think Morris gets a third year. I was suggesting Markuson as the Oline coach.

That clarification does help.

I don't think they would mesh well. The styles are too contrasting.

Kaffee:
You think I can't subpoena Markuson?

Capt. Ross:
You won't find him. Do you know what Markuson did for his first 17 of his 22 years in football? Offensive Line, Markuson is gone. There is no Markuson.

Did not say he was a better coach than Pittman, just making an observation about offensive line play during his time versus other recent line coaches.

Need to hire Fords O-line coach. He started Burlsworth on the road to greatness. Or am I mis-remembering the time line.  The Nutt only had one year, 1998.  Burls was there for 4 or 5 years.

Last I heard... a Razorback Legend, BIG Freddie Childress was a Championship OL Coach in the CFL. We need to find him and bring him HOME. Big Fred was a Monster, he knew how to block

I agree he had some nasty OLines but just no as HC. Love to have him as an OL coach though.

Give the man credit... he took under rated Arkansas kids and made them SEC linemen. Thatís what we need to get back to. Arkansas born boys with the DESIRE to be Razorbacks. Worked then and will work now. Blows my mind to see the O-line in this shape
