I know we would want the pipe dream of Meyer or Stoops... but IF we were looking at just these 6... I would throw Fickel in there but I think he is beyond us and will be able to pick his spot on open positions after this year.

How would you rank Kiffen, Satterfield, Clawson, Huepel, Shiano and Norvell...

Satterfield:
7-5
11-2
10-3
9-4
10-2
4-2 currently at Louisville.

1. Norvell
2. Kiffen
3. Shiano
4. Heuple
5. Satterfield

I think that we probably have a couple of other candidates out there that could be better choices than 2-5.

Satterfield is ok at Louisville but not much more, don't see him beating SEC teams.
Heuple may or may no be the next big thing just too little evidence 1 way or the other.
Kiffen is a wildcard, but has proven to be able to coach.

Norvell:
8-5
10-3
8-6
5-1 Currently with a win against ole miss.

Satterfield (Another unproven no name.  I am tired of those)
Norvell (I don't get the obsession.  He has done nothing to prove he could turn this program around)
Clawson (Another no name)
Huepel  (yet another No name)
Shiano  (I don't want another coach just focused on defense, with a boring offense)
Kiffin (The only one out of these with a name, experience at the top of the SEC, and a proven offense.  He is my pick out of the list)

Check those buyouts.  That will have to be strongly considered coupled with Chads buyout.

Kiffen:
Tenn 7-6
USC 8-5
      10-2
      7-6
      3-2
FAU 11-3
      5-7
      4-2 currently
Kiffen won at Tenner taking over a dumpster fire
Then took over a dumpster fire in USC and did pretty respectable with a short Bench IMO
FAU is never going to be great, just can't recruit enough there to win at the level of a UCF or USF

Who would be a huge hire that we have a gnats arss chance of hiring?  I see a lot of wish lists.  There are wish lists and there are reality lists.  Arkansas, Tenner, OM and Mistake will probably have coaching vacancies in the next 365 days.  Arkansas is in worse shape than the others.  Hot coaches who want to try their craft in the SEC will have options other than Arkansas.

Realistic. Thank you. May be our best option. But not a "big hire".
Muss was a nice hire but not a home run.  I think he will prove to be an upgrade from CMA.  The basketball program was in much better shape compared to the football when Muss was hired. If we couldn't get a "big hire" for hoops, we sure ain't getting it for football.  Best hope is a coach who is under the "big hire" radar that turns out to be a real winner.

Considering how much more in depth and professional Muss is running practices, and known through out the NBA and other major leagues, I'd say he's a home run hire.

Bryan Harsin... triple his pay... he has it made at Boise...
Brohm at Purdue... making good money their.
Norvell would come in a heart beat.
Kiffen would come in a heartbeat.
Satterfield is probably in a better spot at Louisville right now.
PJ Fleck is building something at Minnesota.. probably wait for a better job.
Neal Brown... would he leave West Virginia for us?
Justin Fuente at V tech.. better job
Bill Clark... would come just because he is at UAB.. but he is god there and might wait for a better job.
Hueple... at UCF... could maybe wanna move up.. but UCF is a very solid program right now

Coordinators:
Venables... this stage of his career probably waiting on elite opportunity
Tony Elliot... is gonna be a damn good HC one day.. probably wait for a better gig.
Jim Leanhard.. Wisconsin boy... has 4 shutouts this season.
Alex Grinch... doubt he wants anything to do with this fire.

I have no direct sources, so this second hand from someone somewhat familiar with Norvell.

He would pass on us, because he is pissed we passed him over for CM. Not sure I blame him .

we already pissed Kiffin off last year by jerking what was basically an offer away from him

Kiffin ain't coming

Kiffin was my first choice after Bielema, so...

1.  Kiffin
2.  Kiffin
3.  Kiffin
4.  Norvel
5.  Saterfield

Huepel is intriguing to me but at the same time, his predecessor at UCF hasn't set the world on fire at Nebraska.

The one thing HY has going for him with some of these coach's who we possibly jerked around last time.
HY didn't do the hiring. He had nothing to do with it.

coach O was 6-2 as interim coach at usc. I believe Kiffin was 28-15 during his time at usc.

That's a good point.  HY can claim he was out of the equation last time.
I really like Satterfield as he is substance and not just style.  In just don't see him leaving Louisville since this is his first year.  Norvell and Kiffin seem too much style over substance.  Bill Clark is an interesting option.

I also like Justin Wilcox from Cal.  he has really built their defense and until their starting QB went down he had the offense at least respectable.  I am leaning towards a defensive HC and let him hire an OC to get offense rolling.  I'm sick of watching bad tackling and poor defensive play.  We have to recruit and develop better all over but especially on defense.  Who was our last defensive player that made any impact in the NFL?   Trey Flowers is the only I can think of and he was a self made guy with his great work ethic. I can't remember anyone else in recent years.

It took Schiano four years to be a winner at Rutgers, then he reeled off 5/6 winning seasons in a row.

And you KNOW he's motivated, at age 53 so seasoned, to beat up on TN/SEC that rejected him.

And we could get him relatively cheap (I'd bet).

I say Leach.   All he has done is win more at texas tech and washington state than anyone else ever has.   The press conferences are a blast too.   Give him a chance, he's said he would love to come here.

Since we are talking about new Coaches,  what would everyone think about Dan Enos?  Just curious.   He is a young, hungry, coach that has a good offensive mind and did really good with quarterback development.

Clawson deserves more love. He's demonstrated how to win when you can't out-recruit your rivals (which is our situation exactly). Have a good redshirt program, develop players, build depth.
