The beginning of the end. Losing Crawford and Vance, and now this. They won’t be the last. I expect several more decommitments and transfers in the coming weeks. It’s about to get real ugly for this staff. Time to move on.

McClure should have been assigned to spy on Bowden all night long.  That may have been the game to use his best skill set but that option got wasted by this staff.

Losing a contributor in a spot we are already thin in bodies. Not good. The wheels are flying off this bus.

Another one. I am sure the CCM apologists will say he wasn't really a factor and needed to go.

But when KJ or Catalon(example) transfer, then what are you gonna say?

Another player from a position we cannot afford to lose. But it's not Chad's fault.

Good lord.

We just have to hope that the administration will step in and tell these players to wait till the end of the year to consider transferring. Hopefully by then we can find a coach that can keep the team and what's left of the recruiting class together. Chad's not going to be able to recruit here any longer, unless he somehow wins 2 SEC games to close out the year. Who're those wins going to be?

Does entering the transfer portal have to be approved by the institution that issued him a scholly?

No. The school is required to enter his name in their within a certain number of days (I think 3) of receiving a request to do so from the player. However, once the player officially enters the portal, the school is not required to put him back on scholarship if he later changes his mind and wants to stay.

Unless we just can't afford the buyout, I think you have to cut ties now.

Dude is almost 26.  It doesn't help the roster that he is leaving, but why would he want to play ball at another school for 1 year especially if he has to sit out?  At his age with only one year of eligibility after a sit-out year (unless he is a grad transfer), he won't have much interest from P5 schools.  His life.  Hopefully he finishes the degree he started for his future.  Good luck to him.

He was contributing a grand total of 6 plays against San Jose State, 0 against A&M and 5 against Kentucky. Yeah, tough break. If he can't get in for more plays than that, I think the problem wasn't the staff's. I don't think Chavis would intentionally not play him so he could lose and allow 330 rushing yards and not contain the WR turned QB. Guys who would quit now, I have no use for. They're a big part of the problem.

What is his buyout anyway exactly?

I think I read somewhere a couple days ago it was in the 12.2M range. I wish there were a way to hire quality coaches while maintaining a performance clause within the contract that lets us out of any kind of buyout should the coaches performance fall below a certain number. That’ll never happen and any self respecting coach wouldn’t sign that kind of contract so I guess it’s just wishful thinking, but with the amount of money we are paying coaches nowadays there has to be a better way to safe guard the university when things are THIS bad.

He’s got a kid, and said he needed a job to support the family. I guess he spent all of that baseball bonus money. He’ll only play at a lower division, but did give us a few snaps to rest the starters.

12.2 mill. He’ll back to be as an oc at a smaller school after collecting for a few years. We have no choice

Fire those responsible for the bad hires would be a good start, but I'm afraid those responsible don't work at the school, so there's really nothing that can be done.

Come on man, you knew once it was announced that he was leaving that he was going to be the best to ever play the position here, and the staff is screwed without him....

The guy has walked away from football before, came back, and has been moved through several different positions.  I hate to see anybody leave, but this isn't exactly a game changer here...

Agree. I don't mind transfers but the timing is important unless there are extenuating circumstances. Perhaps there are in this case. I don't know. Also with this portal thing now all teams will have players leave.

He’s still on scholarship/stipend until the end of semester, so he can save wear and tear on his body, and still give baseball lesson to kids. He’ll be a grad transfer in Dec, I believe.

Well as is often the case you and I will disagree, I was calling for him in the 1st half, and later time and time again when Bumper and Scoota just flat did not have enough speed to cut Bowden off. Just like I have mentioned earlier in the year that Bumper and or Scoota need to be off the field in 3rd and long, and put some faster guys out there who can actually rally up and make the tackle, if you and Chavis can't see how many plays we have given up because of a deficiency of speed with Bumper and Scoota that's on y'all.
