Marty with a 2 run bomb in a 7 inning scrimmage today.  Christian Franklin goes 2 for 3.   Opitz is still doing Opitz things behind the dish - run at your own risk.

Someone has to come up with an OSHA type sign with this on it before the season starts ...

Excited to see what our starting lineup will be come Friday. My guess:

1. Zack Gregory - 9
2. Casey Martin - 6
3. Heston Kjerstad - 3
4. Braydon Webb or Bryce Matthews - 7
5. Cole Austin - 5
6. Christian Franklin - 8
7. Casey Opitz -  2
8. Jason Hodges - DH
9. Jacob Nesbit - 4
starting pitcher - Noland, Wicklander, or Kopps
I knew Gregory was practicing outfield but how is his arm?

pretty good - he had one bad throw (spiked the ball) today but 9/10 times it's been pretty good.  I've also been impressed with Bryce Matthews but they've worked him primarily in left field.  Coby Boulware can fit in there somewhere as well = which is funny seeing that he was an freshman all-american at 2B.

I honestly think baseball is the hardest job in regards to roster management.

We have 40 plus players on practicing with us this fall.  Only 32 players will make it.  27 (I believe) will then split the 11.7 scholarships.  BRUTAL.

Not one of these 40 players have shown to be duds.  Some might not be up to snuff for a top SEC program but every single one of them could find a starting spot somewhere else.  We will probably be reading about how a couple of these guys we let go are all conference somewhere.  It's just the way it is.

I forgot to add but CJ Marks didn't have a great day (3 hits, 2 walks, 1 K ----- only 1 run) but I think he has a ton of arm potential.  I liken his delivery to a lefty Reindl.  Kind of a punchy delivery  - if that makes any sense at all.

35 make the roster and 25 can receive scholarships.

I watched some practice videos and had to immediately see who #24 was.  Matthews stood out to me because of his hitting and his build.

Well - after listening to DVH's interview we won't be seeing Webb in left field.

Webb was projected to start but made a great diving catch yesterday that hurt him.

I should have known something was up when they put Opitz in left field after the catch.....  These practices/scrimmages have been intense and the player's have been making great effort to survive the cut.  Bryce Matthews should get the nod but we will find out tomorrow.

DVH told Andrew Hutchinson that Webb has had an MRI and that "it's clear."   DVH is hoping Webb will miss only a week or so and be able to play in the Hogs' second scrimmage at Oklahoma State.

I think Gregory will be leadoff. DVH likes the fact that he will take a walk and steal a bag

Once all the school have their schedules then the tv schedule will come out and some series will end up being Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

Hopefully Easter will be that way again this year since we are playing at home that weekend.

Opitz rotated a little at 3rd again today...... woooooo pig sooie.

Nate Stevens laid down a great bunt down the 3rd base line ----- would have been safe against most teams.

Opitz charged hard and snatched that ball out of the grass and fired an absolute missile to first - OUT!  Wernes would have been proud.

The balls must of wanted to take a trip to the Hog Pen because both the red and black teams were smashing.

Cole Austin, Curtis Washington, Bryce Matthews, Heston Kjerstad, and Christian Franklin all hit homers.

Curtis had another shot that would have made Spanberger jealous but it was about 10 feet outside the foul poul.  I hope the roof on the RF/Ticket Office is reinforced.

Not a problem.  As I've said in previous posts - everything is relative when scrimmaging against your own team.  All I can say is that the homers did not come off any of our projected starters.  We have 40+ players on our current roster.  There will be some movement.  Luckily everyone here understands the difficulties of roster management in college baseball.

Didn't get to watch the whole scrimmage but Trey Harris had a monster shot to left field along with a single.  Excited (and nervous) about how this roster is going to shape up.

Last year at the Swatters' Club meeting where he announced the series he said he wants to try to play power 5 conference opponents we may not normally play to enhance the student experience.  Michigan State will return the midweek series.  It didn't appear there was any prior connection between the coaches.

Quote
STILLWATER — Oklahoma State fans have a chance to get their first look at the 2020 Cowboy Baseball team when the Cowboys host Arkansas in a fall exhibition game Saturday at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.

Saturday's exhibition will begin at noon, and admission is free. The teams will play two seven-inning contests with a 15-minute break between them.

Fans can also tune in to Stillwater Radio for coverage as the voice of Cowboy Baseball, Rex Holt, will be calling part of the action while also interviewing OSU players and coaches for further insight into the team. Coverage will air on KSPI 93.7 FM and also online at stillwaterradio.net.

Coach Josh Holliday's Cowboys are coming off a 2019 season in which they advanced to the fifth NCAA Super Regional in program history and finished one win shy of a College World Series berth. Along the way, OSU compiled a 40-21 record and captured the 33rd conference title in program history by winning the Big 12 Baseball Championship.

A top-25 ranked recruiting class along with the return 15 letterwinners from a year ago, including Carson McCusker, Hueston Morrill, Cade Cabbiness, Alix Garcia, Parker Scott, Ben Leeper and Brett Standlee, highlights OSU's 2020 roster.

The Razorbacks are coming off a 46-20 season in which they advanced to the College World Series for the second-straight year.

This should be the last game played in Allie P. Reynolds Stadium - a stadium at one point was the jewel of college baseball and saw some of the best players go through there.  I look forward to us helping send it off in style.

Still waiting on schedule release - missing two SEC series but if I had to guess this will be the order of the conference slate

@ Mississippi State
Alabama
@ Ole Miss
Florida
Texas A&M
@ LSU
Auburn
@ South Carolina
Georgia
@ Tennessee

tough schedule as always

opening conference play AT Dudy Noble will be tough/fun.  I'll have to see if the wife would like to take a road trip.

Today was the last day of fall ball.

Now we wait through the cold and dark for opening day.

In the meantime............ here is a great photoset from today's last pratice:

https://rjhutch.exposure.co/pitchers-bp

Our pitchers taking BP

I was there and you'd be suprised by the performance of some of the pitchers -  I believe Liam Henry went deep (pulled it down the left field line).

ADD:  Coach Thompson and a couple of other coaches batted (except DVH - he was throwing BP).  DVH gave Coach T a couple difficult pitches - low and inside but when he squared one up he Kjerstad it deep into the hog pen.
