RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - With the opening of the 2019 Arkansas Tech football season just a few short weeks away, first-year Wonder Boys head football coach Kyle Shipp welcomed 130 players to campus this weekend for the opening of football practice.

The Wonder Boys took to the field on Saturday for their first mock practice and walk-through of camp, and will conduct daily practices through the season opener. The first scrimmage will take place on Friday at 9 a.m., with the final summer scrimmage taking place at Thone Stadium on Saturday, August 24 at 7 p.m.

The preparation will culminate in the 2019 season opener, as Arkansas Tech travels to Monticello, Arkansas to face Arkansas-Monticello on Thursday, September 5. Tech will play a full 11-game conference schedule, opening the home portion of the schedule on Saturday, Sept.14 against Ouachita Baptist with a Family Day/Paint The Town Green and Gold celebration.

Tech will travel to Henderson State on Oct. 21 before beginning a two-game homestand, hosting Southern Arkansas on Sept. 28 and Oklahoma Baptist in a homecoming tilt on Oct. 5.

The Wonder Boys go to Southern Nazarene on Saturday, Oct. 12 before returning home to face Northwestern Oklahoma on Saturday, Oct. 19. After a contest at Southwestern Oklahoma on Oct. 26, the Wonder Boys host Southeastern Oklahoma on Nov. 2 on Military Appreciation Day. The final road contest will be on Saturday, Nov. 9 at East Central before the Wonder Boys return home on Saturday, Nov. 16 for a Senior Day matchup with Harding.
