Korean Bunting Derby
« on: July 09, 2019, 07:37:19 am »

Home run derby is cool and all but check out what they do in Korea! https://twitter.com/jacob_resnick/status/1148383432378126336?s=21

In all seriousness, would be a fun drill for our guys in the fall if it was done off live pitching haha

On another note, do all the games over there have that many women in the stands?  Asking for a friend.....

Not everybody is capable of hitting a home run, and even those who can aren't able to just dial it up whenever they want, but EVERYBODY should be able to get a bunt down, especially when you are down 1-0 late in the game with a runner on third and less than 2 out.

Well hell, they're throwing slow pitch. Let Nolan Ryan throw a heater in there that breaks. See if they get the same result.

meh.... they throw meatballs during home run derbys.

Also, it looks like it might be a team activity.  The pitcher and batter were communicating before the pitch trying to get the best possible delivery to score points.

It's not a "game like" scenario but derbys and exhibitions rarely are.

I think a skills competition would be cool.

Kinda becoming a lost art. When was the last time you saw a squeeze play in college or MLB?

Went to a "Korean world series" game about 25 years ago. Teams were owned by companies so it was like Samsung vs Hyundai, not city vs city.   I saw  one guy use his Samsung flag as a spear  against another fan.  The razorback's RBI  girls need to take a trip to Korea  to learn  how real  baseball cheer leading works.   Sushi (kimbap) at a baseball game, it doesn't get any better than that

My dad who coached for almost 30 years gave you 10 swings for batting practice but you had to lay a bunt down in a box he drew down the first and third base lines.   Every time you failed that was one less swing that you got.

Ten swings for BP doesn’t seem conducive to having a team that hits well
