St Johns trying to make the cut for another 5* in Josh Hall. I've been seeing St. Johns associated with a lot of 5* recruits. Keep swinging and sooner or later you're gonna connect. That staff CMA has assembled has really been putting in work on the recruiting trail and it is showing.

5:30 pm announcement tomorrow. Could be huge for Mike Anderson as he builds the Red Storm's foundation.

Going after guards hard. Some fans don't understand that that is the foundation. Same as some Muss critics.

lol. New York is one of my favorite cities to visit but I think I will settle for watching St Johns on TV. Same as I did with UAB and Missouri when CMA was there. That man gave 25 years to Arkansas and was part of some of the best years in Razorback basketball history. Yeah, I like CMA as all Hog fans should.

I like Mike just fine. Just not as a coach though. By the way like any employee he got paid and for his jobs here very well. I wish all my former employees well when they leave but I'm not gonna wax poetic about them all the time.

I'm not obsessed. Far from it. Just offering a counterweight to the smear campaign waged by some posters against Mike Anderson in other forums on here. There is a tenacity to some of the hate against CMA in Arkansas that seems to indicate that it goes beyond coaching. Nolan experienced the same thing even while coming off of a national championship season.

After CMA was fired, many posted that he was through as a coach and seemed to be gleeful at the prospect. Then, after he was hired so quickly to another high major job at St. John's, it was even speculated by some on here that he wouldn't even make enough money to be able to afford new clothes or a decent house. Such nasty meanspiritedness needs to be challenged early and often. We should be better than that.

Since CMA left, subtle and not so subtle narratives are being pushed: CMA's players were out of shape; Players were not buying in and were attitude problems; No talent was left on the roster and an immediate overhaul was required; Criminal activity is/was pervasive; No basketball knowledge from returnees (they need to be taught how to play now that CMA is gone); etc.

St Johns makes the cut for another 4* guard. CMA putting the full court press on the nations top talent. Stocking up at the guard spot is a Fastest 40 staple!

Lots of 2020 offers out there for the Johnnies. Not sure how serious the Bryce Thompson offer is but the connection is there.

Judging by the offer list, The Fastest 40's recruiting has gone national like it was back in Nolan's heyday. If they start hitting on some of these guys, CMA will have his biggest success at St. John's. I hope it happens. Would be a great ending to his career.

Josh Gray has a nice offer list. Good looking big man prospect. Maybe CMA can keep him at home.

And what did Sutton do that Mike did not do? He elevated the program to relevance. At least he got the triplets here. Mike never got anything like that. Sutton won regular season conference championships, conference tournament championships and took us a Final four. Get back to us when you have evidence Mike did that for us. Besides you don't hear as much about Eddie anymore. All we hear is you talking about Mike.

Of course, if I were really trolling I'd be posting fast and furiously about Mike Anderson in the Hog related forums buts as you can see, I'm not.

As a matter of fact, the argument can be made that you are over here in General Sports trying to troll me.

Mike or Nolan (definitely) would have won us another national championship if they had the Triplets.

Also, numerous Sutton threads pop up on here every year including 2 or 3 last year. There will probably be 10-12 Sutton threads bubbling up as we approach the unveiling of Nolan Richardson Court in Bud Walton Arena this year with most of those threads started by some of the old guard grudgeholders and Nolan haters. So predictable.

Question: do you think Sutton's drug and alcohol abuse MAY have cost us a game here and there and maybe a loss in the final 4?

If Figueroa can hang with this guy then dealing with the players in the Big East won't be a problem.

Lol. If you don't like the message just call it a troll job. Great work guy.

Of course, if I were really trolling I'd be posting fast and furiously about Mike Anderson in the Hog related forums buts as you can see, I'm not.

As a matter of fact, the argument can be made that you are over here in General Sports trying to troll me.

Listen Mikey Jr., we get it. Papa had plenty of time to get us where we needed to be, and he just didn't do it.

8 years definitely means he was given plenty of time to take us to the next level. For several reasons that I won't delve into or rehash, it didn't happen. Now he is gone and I'm not mad. I'm good with where the Razorbacks are and I think Mike will do very well at St Johns, another good thing in my book.

I think they're over their scholarship limit.

They are still recruiting at a couple of guard spots and also looking at several C/F types. I don't know the specifics on their roster situation but I believe that the situation is fluid.

the i know you are but what am i defense.    flawless.

don't like?  you're right.  try ADORE.   i'm paying homage to your work.

Not sure what you disagree with as I am not being argumentative. I did look at ADORE and that would be overkill. Thanks though.

The most important factor is refs, Mike’s style was hurt badly with here SEC refs calling everything, after watching the Big East not calling much it could be a perfect storm. And yes Muss will get screwed by SEC refs too, all SEC teams do

One thing that remains constant is that SEC refs suck. No argument from me.

Jeff Goodman is a Mike Anderson hater emeritus. He would have fit right in with Jump Ball. Now he needs to search the web for some crow recipes. Goodman is a bum.

The accolades are starting to come in as CMA lands his first top 100 recruit from the Big Apple. One of the big question marks surrounding Mike Anderson's hiring at St. John's was his lack of familiarity with east coast and NYC in particular recruiting.

This commit by Posh Alexander goes a long way toward easing those concerns.

What does it say if Mike recruits harder and better at St Johns than Arkansas?  Maybe that he was a little to comfortable at Arkansas???  The word complacent comes to mind.  Says to me it was probably time to move on actually, which I supported at the time.

Mike took this one personal and yes he has gotten way to comfortable his last 3 years here, he has now surrounded himself with crazy good assistants. Expect his 2020 class to higher than Arkansas, which if you would’ve told me that a few months ago I would’ve laughed.

I think Mike will find it easier to recruit to NYC than Fayetteville AR. There is thousands of good players within 200 miles radius of St John campus

IT also helps when you get a fresh staff of recruiters, and not family and buddies.  He just got to comfortable.  I really think he thought he was untouchable.

or that NYC has great players and it's an easier sell to keep them home and Mike is an awesome person to sell that program to them especially after whitey mc dipsheet.   Mike's a great fit there - no way he's changed his tactics - veteran players find ways to dance with the date that brought them.   Horse found better course.   I hope he rocks the hell out.

don't get all miffed and think he loafed here - that dude ain't loafed a day in his life.  look at him.  give him some respect dammit.

You make a great point and I agree. I think Mike will find his biggest success here.

https://www.zagsblog.com/2019/08/22/posh-alexander-to-st-johns/

After former coach Chris Mullin left, Alexander said Anderson sold him on his vision for the future.

“He basically told me we’ll treat you good,” he said. “You can play as a freshman, do all this. The way they play I just loved it, the defense, all of it.”

He added of his new coach: “He’s a great guy. A great guy, actually, a perfect guy. I feel like he’d be a great coach for me because his main thing is defense and that’s what I like to do. So that’s why I think we connected well.”

Not only is Mike likely to land a really good 2020 class but he has gotten off to a tremendous start on recruiting the 2021 class by getting the number 1 and number 2 ranked players in that class on campus for unofficial visits this summer. Kuminga and Clarke could team up in the Big Apple. Small chance but stranger things have happened.

If Muss had got that type of talent on campus here this summer some fans on Hogville and sports talk shows would already be demanding that he get a raise and extension before he even coached his first Razorback game.

Just gonna have to be patient. Fayetteville is no New York.

Get 'em while they're young. CMA already tapping into the 2023 class for talent. No resting on his laurels. Already going hard after this Gai.

https://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/adidas-atlanta-memorial-day-classic-takeaways

Gai Chol just arrived in the United States from Sudan within the past month and hasn’t even played a high school game yet, but he’s going to be a major problem in the 2023 class. Already at 6-foot-11, he has great hand-eye coordination and can finish in traffic with the best of them. His father is 7-foot-6, and his mother is 6-foot-6, so it’s likely he’s not done growing. Expect Greenforest Christian School in Atlanta to attract a lot of college coaches over the next few years to lay eyes on him.
