Derby Day is here
« on: April 13, 2019, 05:04:30 am »

A couple things. Pick 4 added starting in race 5.

Early scratches

Race 6   #1
Race 7  #13, 14

Race 2  mile and 9/16 in the mud. That should be an interesting race.  Assuming that is the trails end moved up since it is no longer closing day.

Interesting note on that race. Take a look at the 9. Looks like he can run all day and was claimed out of a Houston race 2 weeks ago with this spot in mind. Could be a nice long shot play.

If you didn't see Mitole last race the 1:08.4 is very misleading as Santana basically stood up on the horse the last 1/16th.   Mitole has controlling speed and the rail. I don't think Whitmore will be able to get by him.

Anyone think with the sloppy track it gives Galilean a bigger shot?

Trails end is 1 3/4 and starts out of 6f chute. I think this starts at 5.5 f gate.

I canít believe they would change the trails end from the last date. Thanks for the tip on the 9

Something is up with him doing this...He must think he has a monster that is very sound...that is the only reason he would do this.  He doesn't really care about Derby-Fever!

Omaha Beach broke maiden on a sloppy track by 9.  Who knows how much of that was the slip but it could move him forward more than anyone

I don't follow as much as many, anybody else surprised like me that Game Winner was not held here and running in the Derby instead of shipping back to  SA? I think I like Omaha Beach to take Improbable.

Never know if one of the horses will like the track when it is like it is.

Santana is 1 behind Cohen in jockey wins. Updated right before the Arkansas Derby. Something to keep in mind for the last two races. Have 7,8/7,8 DD for 10 a throw. Also throwing $20 to W on laughing fox.

Omaha beach is for real that is 2 of the best he has hooked up with and says no sir. I wasn't a big fan of the pace Smith rode early but it worked.

Good ride on Omaha Beach today. Sat chilly until mid stretch.

Haven't been keeping up with Oaklawn past the first week. I just watched the race and Smith is particularly good on the lead in the stretch and the #1 horse threw about 4 fits wasting the energy he needed to win this race. And IMHO, the #1 horse would have won today if he hadn't been extremely fractious. I'll bet Baffert was cussing Oaklawn under his breath for single loading in a big field like they had in the ARK Derby. Should have double loaded. Again, JMHO.

Pretty certain the trails end will still be the final race of the year.  There is a trails end series this year.  First started with  a mile and three sixteenths race then went a mile and a half.  Then yesterday a mile and 9/16ths. If you notice much of all three fields have been the same runners.

Kept thinking yesterday was the last day for Oaklawn this year. Nope, got another 3weeks of racing.
