Donít be that guy.  Pay ur tribute.

I said he deserved to win.  I'm not going to pretend to like him or root for him any more than most of you are overjoyed when Duke or the Patriots win.

I knew my avatar would be worth having.

Iím lying. I thought he was done. Dude was flat terrible for years. Lost his short game. Got the yips with his putter and with chipping. That stuff folds up careers.

Good for him and really good for golf.

Some in here said he would never compete.  Then said he would never win again.  Then also said he would never win another major.

I wouldn't necessarily say that. Woods did what he needed to do to win the tournament. He stayed extremely patient and waited for his opportunity. He didn't go out there and blow everyone away with an extremely low round, but a lot of that was because he knew he didn't need to. Experience and wisdom told him that he should stay patient and wait for his opportunities. He did that. He saw guys starting to slip up at 12 and give him his opening, so he birdies 13, 15, and 16. Tiger deserves credit for winning this one.

Sorry but Molinari losing 4 strokes to the field on holes 12 and 15 by making double bogey on each of tbose two holes IS a choke. Make pars on those two holes and he's the champion.

You're right in that Woods played patient golf and just took things as they came along. Luckily for him the win was a part of his good fortune this weekend.

You seen where a patron had it on the front of his shirt and tiger walked right by him between holes?  He looked at the shirt and just laughed.   No class by the guy but I did laugh.

Still on a high after watching Tiger pull this victory out. This one hit me different because he is the reason myself and a lot of other people even picked up a golf club. He transcended the game and made it cool. You know you're watching something special when you're in a restaurant and people stand up and applaud when he pulls out the victory. Truly amazing and something I was lucky enough to share with my sons. What a comeback story and a lesson about life.

I respect the hell out of anybody who overcomes back problems. Tiger had four surgeries in recent years. I got emotional during the closing stretch yesterday. Back problems rule my life. Awesome to see Tiger recover the way he has.

I have never really cared much about athletes personal lives, so it didnít really affect my status as a fan.

I do know that Iíve made plenty of mistakes in my life, so I loved seeing him win again after everything that he went through.

The thing about Tiger is he STILL draws in people who otherwise would pay little attention to the game of golf.

Some of my female friends actually watched all weekend because Tiger was in the hunt.

That can't be a bad thing.

Some in here said he would never compete.  Then said he would never win again.  Then also said he would never win another major.
Tiger's only problem was getting his back fixed and being healthy again.
He never forgot how to play.
After the surgery, then it was just a matter of regaining some confidence, trusting the back was ok, and getting some reps in.

I actually expected a more specific shout-out to the doctor(s) who did this most recent back fusion, which obviously worked, unlike the others. They are obviously the huge piece of this comeback story.

On another note, CBS reporting largest ratings since 3rd round of 2015 Masters. Averaged a 6.0 in some markets.
To those who claim Tiger gets too much attention, I would just just say: win 80 times and 15 majors and those players will get the same amount of attention as well.
The attention goes to the appropriate places. The TV guys know who people want to see. The numbers show it.

Wow..........only playing golf because of one guy? And this being a guy who doesn't even know you exist and even if he did he wouldn't give a rats ass about you. It truly amazes me how many people place so much importance on a celebrity and try to live their lives vicariously through him.  :)

Ha! It was more about that guy being the first guy that looked like me playing golf and kicking ass. Same can be said about a lot of kids who decided to give golf a try after seeing Tiger. You can't deny he has transcended the game.

Actually, Arnie transcended the game...and Tiger has done that and more.

Tiger is the single most important player this game has ever seen--and perhaps ever will see.  Some will disagree with this, but they will be wrong!

Tiger hasn't come close to doing for the game - and the world around him - anything even remotely in the universe of what Arnold Palmer did.
And still does even today after he is gone.

Both Palmer and Woods made golf more popular to the mainstream audience.

So it's really a generational thing.

Arnie was that 'transcendent' figure in the 50s and 60s, Tiger Woods had the same effect in the 90s and 00s.

Other players have not generated this appeal. Jack Nicklaus was merely a great player, maybe the greatest. But transcendent? No.
Same for Phil, Els, Player, Trevino...just great players.

He did, and Arnold did the exact same thing long before him.

Arnold also helped kickstart the senior tour.

Then he was a founder of the golf channel. Lots more money came in to the game because of that.

As of now, no one has done more for golf than Palmer. Tiger is a close second though.

And how many people have a drink named after them? How cool is that?

The old driving range on South University used to be called the Arnold Palmer range. So there's a local connection too.

Not diminishing Tiger at all, though. He had an enormous impact on golf when he came along

You are correct.

The pantheon of golf is the following.

Arnold Palmer
Jack Nicklaus
Perry Maxwell   His iconic work/improvements he made to the Augusta National Golf Club course made the Tournament what it is today.
Tiger Woods
Karsten Solheim

If youíre gonna dance on his grave over and over and over and over.....

Rejoice when He is risen.
We are coming up on Easter weekend. 2019 years ago there was another who rose from the dead, literally, but the people who danced on his grave, well, most of their descendants are still doing the Mazel Tov celebration that He remains dead and was never risen in the first place. Some people will never be convinced, even after over 2000 years nor an 11 year hiatus. Peeps will be peeps, bruh.

Wow..........you are either truly obsessed with Maxwell to the point of insanity or you are just insane period. Maxwell has no more business being on that list than Solheim does. I would wager that it is a good thing PM is dead. Otherwise he would have to hide behind a 100 foot high electric security fence around his home and a protection order against you that would allow you to be shot on sight if you were seen within 500 yards of him.

Good grief. PM has been dead for nearly 70 years. He has dick-all to do with Augusta now.

Maxwell did alterations to 10 holes at ANGC over a 2 year period between 1937 and 1938.  The most well known are his movement and construction of a new green on Hole 7 and Hole 10.

Besides the moving and building entirely new greens at the above 2 holes, he reconstructed the greens on Hole 3, Hole 4, and Hole 6.  He altered the green on Hole 18 (which the Club perplexingly changed later), he eliminated MacKenzie's boomerang green on Hole 9, and he constructed a new green on Hole 9.

Maxwell also altered the bunkering on Hole 1, Hole 5, and Hole 17.
