Very humble and friendly.

Except to the people that worked for him.

Dick Booth was the class of that staff.

What would your answer be, Mike? (We know what you think of Holtz. :))

The nicest one I've had personal dealings with honestly was John Pelphry. Anderson is right there as well.

We all know most coaches are alpha male, can raise their voice, and at times, rude. Let's look at the 180. Have we had any soft spoken, calm/quiet coaches?

Which coach had the biggest feet?? Ridiculous.. definition of nice is relative!!!

I forgot, Dick Booth & John McDonnell!  If you ran track under them, you probably wouldn't say they were ANYTHING but nice. But they were/are very nice to me anyway.

Has anyone ever met and had any interaction with Coach Van Horn.  He seems like a sort of all business type of guy but, at the same time a pretty decent human being.

Off the court Nolan was and is a super friendly guy.
I love that man and cherish the hours ive spent in his company; nicest man in the world. Yet, he was absolutely terrifying and a crazy SOB in his heyday on that court- especially in practice. Ask a former player about "The Claw".

I posted earlier in this thread. Depends on whether we're talking about nice to the players, nice to the media or nice to the fans.

Frank's best quality was his relationship with fans and reporters. He used the media to reach the fans and he was very good one-on-one with them. In those days if a fan and his family was visiting NW Arkansas they could literally walk into Frank's outer office unannounced and if he wasn't in a meeting he'd come out and visit with them.

Under Jeff Long the BAC was like Ft. Knox.

Hatfield was great around fans. He was polite but cool toward the media. Could really get his dander up with players if they pushed the wrong buttons.

Crowe was an all round great guy. So was Danny Ford. Nutt was a rah rah guy if he liked you. He'd grunt and roll his eyes if he didn't.

Petrino was polite and very professional with the media. He was terrible to BAC staffers and rode his players pretty hard.

John L. Smith should have been tarred and feathered by the fans.

Bielema was easy for the media to deal with, great to his players and really good with fans. He just didn't win enough.

Basketball...Sutton was media friendly but drank too much around boosters and fans. He drove Frank nuts.

Nolan raised hell in press conferences but once he walked out of that room he was one of the most interesting coaches I've ever been around. His stories about Frank were hysterical but not repeatable in polite company.

Heath was okay but somewhat distant.  Pelphrey was nice but clueless.

Mike is extremely nice but his program is inaccessable compared to Nolan. Games and press conferences. That's it.

John McDonnell was a great coach, great with the media and the fans but probably number one on my list was Norm DeBriyn. Van Horn is easy to work with but Norm was on another level.

My dad a former qb club president told me Hatfield. . He told me a story about it. He was there when a big money guy was in the Broyles complex. Hatfield stopped to talk to one of the maintenance guys. The big money guy came over to my dad and said I really dont like Hatfield... he treats everyone the same as he does me .

Not all big money people are like that.

I'm confused by the title.  Never had a nice coach. They belittled the hell out of me and said good job when it paid off. Freakin love/loved (lost a few) those guys.

I'll answer the question with a question?  Which coach was nice enough to feed his team jelly sandwiches at halftime?  Figure that out and the answer to the original question is the same.
