How is he able to lose a 1st round pick after an elite 8 in year 2 to now have reloaded in just year 3?  I read on Mike AndersonBallVille, errr JumpBall on Hogville by so many posters Beard wasnít near the coach as MA so Iím trying to wrap my head around how he is able to achieve so much success at a bottom feeder basketball program like TT.

Razorbacks should have hired Chris Beard!  The man can flat out coach.  His teams are fun to watch.  Texas Tech is lucky to have him.  UNLV made a big mistake letting him get away.

Good grief. Schools donít let coaches get away. Coaches can and do go where they want to go and it isnít always about money.

UNLV didn't let him get away.
I knew when the Tech job opened - he was gone.
Texas Tech was his dream job.
The buyout was paid to UNLV according to his contract - there is NOTHING they could have done to get him to stay.

All of the signs he could coach were at UALR. UALR had made the tourney once since 1990 and only had 1 tourney win in their history. Beard in 1 season gave UALR it's best season in history. 30 wins (school record), conference title, flirting with a Top 25 ranking, and defeating a ranked opponent in the first round of the NCAA tourney. I knew who ever picked him up were going to be happy with him

Got a new contract:  6 years for $27.45 million.  That's 4.575 million a year.  Put a Big-12 clause in there too just for Texas.

This ^^^^^^!   If Arkansas would have hired him once a Texas school offered him he would have left Arkansas to go back home to the state of Texas.  Money is not everything, he loves him some Texas, I can't see why, but some people love that damn state.
