NESEP program? I had orders to KU as soon as I made E-4. Made E-4 and they cut the program!!!! Was going to be a RIO on F-14s or an EWO on EA-6s. Still had a blast though and wouldn't trade my time for anything! My seabag is packed and ready to shove off anytime!

Two of them were for four months with the Coral Sea one being a WESPAC. Volunteered for them all! The Wheeling was a civilian ship we affectionately nicknamed "The Love Boat" due to the luxurious staterooms we had plus women on board. Quite the adventure!

Yep! Fall of 78 from Sep to Dec. Onboard the Wheeling in HC-1 Det 3 (The Roentgen Chasers!). It was a NASA/MSC satellite tracker that was available for our mission. Which was: Hauling DOD civilian companies around the Marshall Islands measuring radioactive contamination and fallout from all those "Big Uns" that were tested on Bikini Atoll and other Micronesian Islands. As we discovered, nukes are horrible instruments of destruction for anything they are blown up on, around, or near. I gained a whole new respect for our country's weapons policies after that. It was a real adventure for sure! Oh the "sea stories" from that four months!
