I’ve thought the officiating has been poor both ways today.  Curles isn’t intentionally screwing Mizzou.  Just not an official who should still be in charge of an SEC crew.

What's the score now, 33-14? You're right that does remind me of the BP days when we played some of the top competition.

Oh man am I gonna get some hate mail on this nugget of truth.

Remember the Cotton Bowl when Miami used and abused Texas?  Miami had more yards in penalties than Texas had yards.  Most of them unsportsmanlike conduct and personal fouls.  The announcer called it child abuse.  I had to laugh.

Football was fun when Petrino was here - went into each game thinking we could win.

Here we sit today wondering whether Auburn is going to hang 50 or 70 on us / and wondering whether we can score at all. Where bettors think Auburn -29.5 is a fantastic bet. Give me back those Petrino years anyday.

Like practically every HC in the nation, BP couldn’t beat Bama.  He sucks.  Glad he’s gone.

And we did. A lot. Until we played the ones that really mattered. A lot like what he's done since being back at Louisville, with a Heisman QB no less.

Georgia is one turnover away from being on upset alert.  By the way, I like Barry Odom, think he is a good coach.

They all matter and when you lose most of them - then that win you get against that "Sisters of the Poor" team matters even more.

Want to see Odom as a head coach post-Lock. But his defenses for how Mizzou recruits are well coached.

I get what you're saying and yeah all does matter but when more than likely your ceiling is 3rd best in the conference it stops being fun and more hollow to just compete for 3rd and 4th best with no real chance of being in the NC picture. Of course flirting with double digit wins is worlds better than now but, to me, it's hollow if you're not ever truly in the NC hunt.

They do have to go to LSU and play AU.

I thought this was their possible upset loss heading into the season.

Jesus Christ. Other than God I'm not sure but that's the ultimate goal. At least in my mind. I'm not satisfied with just being ok or even pretty good. It's we are constantly and consistently moving toward one of the best in the nation or we aren't getting it done. Of course there is an amazingly depressing amount of steps ahead of us to get from here to there but like I said that's the goal and my only standard.

Well we finished #5 in the country with Petrino.

We are not a respectable Power 5 program right now. If you let each SEC coach choose their homecoming school to play 13 out of 13 would chose Arkansas. We are so far at the bottom - no one else is remotely close to us in the east or the west.

But hey, let's talk about how hollow Petrino's time here was.

I’ve always found it odd that BP was held to such a high standard.  Dude, had plenty of faults and certainly wasn’t a perfect coach, but geez.  The only way we know how to support or defend our HC is to disparage a former HC.  Because we sure don’t want to make comparisons.

and in that #5 finish how did that Bama game turn out? And LSU was even worse if I remember correctly, which I do. So like I said, 3rd best in the conference as a ceiling. Pretty hollow to me. Sorry if you wanna remember it better than it realistically was but it was what it was.

I was thinking the same thing.  Petrino getting it handed to him today by Virginia.  His offense without a decent QB has scored 3 so far into the 4th quarter.  he's not the genius people think he is.  You still have to have players

Agree, but that was very likely an exception.  I loved the top 5 finish like everyone else, but I knew it wasn’t sustainable.  Forget about what one thinks about BP’s coaching abilities, it wasn’t sustainable due to talent.  It never will be as long as the SEC is the way it is today.  We are an ocean apart in talent from multiple SECW programs.  BP would have kept us very respectable IMO, but that’s it.  And that’s about our ceiling in the SEC.

So officials didn’t have to protect Fromm on 2nd down from a cheap shot - typical of Mizzou d linemen.  But Lock got touched with one hand in the chest but because it was after a pass they got a penalty.

It's not meant to be disparaging, it's what happened. If the true history of an event doesn't measure up to how we wanted it or remember it being that doesn't make the truth disparaging.

Agreed. Dude had plenty of faults, but compared to anyone else the Hogs have had since the 80s, on field performance wasn't one of them. It would be awesome to believe anything similar is on the horizon.

I agree it’s truth, but I won’t applogize that I inferred that your reason for stating this truth was to minimize whatever success BP did achieve.
