Coach Pruitt:

McBride will be a VFL. Continue to be a big part of the program.

Medical staff caught issue early on. (McBride enrolled last month).

« Reply #220 on: October 23, 2019, 01:17:19 pm »

Vols reached into the Memphis area late Tuesday night to beat several SEC programs for a trio of Whitehaven prospects that all project to play defense at the next level

Quote
First came four-star linebacker Bryson Eason, the No. 17 inside linebacker prospect in the nation according to 247Sports Composite Rankings, then four-star linebacker Martavius French, the No. 15 inside linebacker prospect in the nation according to 247Sports Composite Rankings, then finally, three-star Tamarion McDonald, the No. 34 outside linebacker prospect in [our] nation...

McDonald had been committed to Mississippi State until Tuesday evening.

Following the trio of commitments, Tennessee is up to 17 total commitments for the 2020 recruiting cycle —

Tennessee picks up commitment from massive Texas offensive lineman Kyree Miller

Quote
Despite a rough start to the 2019 season, it seems that Jeremy Pruitt has the Tennessee football program heading in the right direction again. The Volunteers have won three out of their last four games and have a chance at qualifying for a bowl game.

Even more important, the Big Orange has been hot on the recruiting trail. That continued on Tuesday when Kyree Miller, an offensive guard from Mesquite

Jabari Small

Quote
Former Ole Miss commit Jabari Small just announced his commitment to the Volunteers.

Small decommitted from Ole Miss on Dec. 2 following the school’s decision to fire Matt Luke.

The standout running back and returner from Briarcrest Christian in Memphis is a teammate of defensive lineman Omari Thomas, who just announced his own commitment to Tennessee on Monday. With these Briarcrest Christian teammates now committed to Tennessee’s 2020 recruiting class, the Vols have 18 total prospects committed to the class.

Rocky Top flip? Georgia defensive back decommits from Arizona State leading up to Tennessee visit

Quote
Jeremy Pruitt and company appear close to pulling off another victory on the recruiting trail as one of the program’s latest targets has updated his recruitment leading up to the Early Signing Period.

If you don’t know the name Doneiko Slaughter, you should learn it as the Georgia native is set to officially visit Tennessee this weekend. If you were unaware, this is the final weekend for recruits to visit before the Early Signing Period arrives on Wednesday.

Day after losing 4-star 2020 DB, Tennessee lands commitment from different 2020 DB

On Friday, 4-star 2020 DB Mordecai McDaniel flipped from Tennessee to Florida.

It didn’t take long for the Vols to replace McDaniel in their recruiting class, though, as they landed a safety out of the Georgia area.

3-star DB Doneiko Slaughter, a former Arizona State commit, announced he was committing to the Tennessee program:

It’s rare for one high school to have 3 football players heading to the same school, in the same recruiting class. Rarer still for that trio to each play the same position. But that’s what will happen later this week when Whitehaven (Tenn.) High School linebackers Bryson Eason (4-star), Martavius French (4-star) and Tamarion McDonald (3-star) each sign with the University of Tennessee. Whitehaven head coach Rodney Saulsberry said he wasn’t surprised to see them choose the same school to further their athletic and academic careers.

“They had about 5-6 different Power 5 schools that were giving them the opportunity to play together,” Saulsberry told SDS. “Schools kept watching them and offers kept coming, so I knew as that opportunity continued to present itself that it would be an option..."

If what we have heard about the Fayetteville trip is true and the alleged guilty person(s) walked from one scholarship to another with no consequences, one wonders if this served as a wake-up call or the feeling of being teflon-coated?

Tennessee, with 21 recruits, sits 14th nationally and 7th in the SEC for the Class of 2020. Jeremy Pruitt’s Vols aren’t where they need to be in terms of roster talent.

Quarterback of the future secured
This is going to come as quite the hot take, but Tennessee’s quarterback situation is not ideal. I know, I know, this is a bold call on my part, but I’m not scared of the pressure.

Jarrett Guarantano returns for his 5th year in the program. He is what he is. A tough kid who battles but also makes a couple of head-shaking decisions in almost every game. The elite teams all have top level quarterbacks and Guarantano hasn’t proven that he will ascend to that level. Brian Maurer and J.T. Shrout each started games in 2019, but their performances were shaky. It’s possible one this spring as well.

Vols needed help at the most important position, and feel they got it with Marietta, Ga., standout Harrison Bailey.

Secured the borders
High school football in Tennessee isn’t at the Texas or Florida level, but it has improved a great deal over the past decade. The programs they are competing against have taken notice. The 2 areas with the most talent are in Memphis and Nashville, which produce top FBS talent every year.

Wide receiver help
Tennessee must replace 2 of its best players in senior wide receivers Marquez Callaway and Jauan Jennings. Josh Palmer is the top returning receiver with 34 catches last season. Otherwise that room lacks experience. There isn’t another receiver who had more than 4 catches.

Cade Mays comes home
Should the transfer of former Georgia offensive lineman Cade Mays count in the keys to the Class of 2020 since …

Sam Pittman put Mr. Mays finger on ice

Tennessee extends offer to California QB Miller Moss who is coached by former Volunteer Casey Clausen

Quote
Leaving California for Rocky Top worked out very well for former Volunteer quarterback Casey Clausen and now Tennessee is hoping Miller Moss is interested in following his high school coach’s steps.

6-foot-2, 197-pound starting quarterback is garnering national attention as Moss enters his senior season as the nation’s No. 62 overall prospect and the No. 8 pro-style passer in our nation.

Moss shared the news that Tennessee had offered him a scholarship. Moss currently holds scholarship offers from programs ranging from Harvard and Yale in the Ivy League to SEC programs Auburn and LSU to local Los Angeles programs UCLA and USC.

Tennessee does not currently hold a commitment from a quarterback prospect in the 2021 recruiting cycle.

Longtime Tennessee commit Jordan Mosley wants to be ‘the guy’ for McGill-Toolen

Quote
McGill-Toolen rising senior wide receiver and longtime Tennessee commit Jordan Mosley feels like he’s been a little overlooked

6-foot, 180-pound standout is currently the seventh-ranked 2021 recruit in the state

“I am still committed, but I have a whole year ahead of me,” he said. “I still have my eyes open to any school that wants to talk to me. I will listen to what every school says and take that into consideration.”

Mosley said he hasn’t shut down his recruitment. He received an offer recently from South Carolina and also said he is in communication with Arkansas, Mississippi State and Louisville a lot.
