For those in the know
« on: January 07, 2006, 06:47:43 pm »

I have been ready in here for quite a long time but have only posted a few times.  I never actually attended the U of A but have always been a huge fan.  My parents moved to KC when I was a kid and I have been here since.  My dad and I have had season tickets for the last 10 years and have started bringing my daughter to try to get her brainwashed in the best way possible.  No more of this KU crapolla.  Last season I ran in to Coach Shibest mother-in-law and his son.  I found out that the team uses a few Chiropractors in the training room before, after and during the game.  As you can probably tell I am a Chiropractor in KC and would love to find out how I could get involved in this.  Not for any type of $$ or anything like that but just for the pure satisfaction of helping keep the players out on the field.  If anyone knows who to talk to please let me know.

With all due respect, sir, I really think if you were qualifed & sane, you would not be asking for advice here. I don't want ANYONE working for U of A athletics who comes HERE asking for advice. Comprende?

thanks for all your help.  Silvertip.  The question is are you sane or do you just pretend to be?  You ever think I may be some sort of super genius that can heal everyone and make them play at levels higher than they have ever imagined.  Obviously I am kidding.  Always like a smart a$$.

With the last name Payne and me being a Doctor it comes with the territory.

They don't declare themselves doctors. Their certification authenticates it. If you have the certification, you have every right to call yourself a doctor. Why do you see the need to belittle someones's profession on a sports discussion board?

21Man.  Absolutely right.  And just for those that don't know Chiropractic is actually the second largest Health profession in the US and is projected to pass Medicine sometime within the next 10 years.  As a matter of fact in most states D.C. (Doctors of Chiropractic) are considered primary care physcians.

The only real difference is that we prescribe adjustments while our medical counterparts prescribe drugs.  And if you compare the amount of school then you will notice that a D.C. actually has more hours than an M.D.

Just a little bit of info for ya

However, MDs are required to complete 3-7 years of post graduate training before starting a practice.

I would have to disagree.  I am not a chiropractor or anything, but those guys are not hurting at all.  The average primary care physician is maybe pullin in 120K average for the US.  A 'good' chiropractor that markets his practice is likely doubling to tripling that!!

A new doctor at our pediatricians office is Dr. Swindle. That's kind of like the law firm of Dewey, Cheatham, and Howe.

Dr. Swindle moved from Ft. Smith, and he is a wonderful pediatrician.  I thought the same thing about his name, though.

Well yes. PhD is an abbreviation for "Doctor of Philosophy". In other words you know so much about your field that you are not just a technician you are intimately familiar with the philosophy of that field. I always thought that having a PhD in Philosophy was kind of redundant.

I am not a Chiropractor but I am someone that had a broken neck and many other disabilities. Physical therapy made things worse for me the only thing that helped to any degree was Chiropractic therapy. Some people do not like Green Beans and do not eat them but that doesn't mean they are not good for you or can harm you by eating them or not be good for you if you do eat them. There are different philosophy's in chiropractic medicine. I do not agree with them all but Chiropractic adjustments can help many conditions but not all. Just as some medicines help some conditions but not others.

I used to shy away from Chiropractors.

I have a compression fracture. For years my family doctor gave me drugs. I couldn’t take then because they knocked me out. I would eat 8 ibuprofens a day just to get around. My life was difficult to so the least.

Dr. Hays, a chiropractor in VB, took 1 x-ray and showed me my problem. Within a month the pain in gone. He has most definitely turned my life around. And has done this without drugs.

Dr. Payne, I hope things work out for you with the Hogs.  There is another Dr. Payne Chiropractor in Destin, FL that I had the pleasure of being treated by once and he was very, very good.  I injured my neck wrestling in High School and really didn't know anything about Chiropractic care at that time so I just suffered with my injury until I got to college.  My college wrestling coach recommended I see a Chiropractor and it made an immediate and positive impact.

I'm a firm believer in Chiropractic care and I go to one periodically just to keep "tuned up".  I absolutely believe that regular Chiropractor care has allowed me to be very healthy throughout my life and even on those rare occasions where I do get sick, I don't stay sick for very long.  As a testament, I have never been to a MD in my entire life for any sort of illness.  Good genes? Perhaps.  Lucky? Maybe.  But I certainly believe Chiropractic has a great deal to do with it.

Again, best of luck with your practice.

Also, when you call Dean Weber insist that you would never see or say anything in regards to overuse of pain pills, or if lets say 10,000 of them are unaccounted for......  being blind to problems (on and off the field) is the Number 1 skill that they look for, when people are hired to work in the AD Department.
