Garrick McGee Quote on Withdrawing Name from Tulsa Job
« on: January 14, 2011, 11:24:55 am »

"I have decided to withdraw my name from consideration for the head coach position at Tulsa. My goal is to one day be a head coach and there are a number of considerations that factor into when that time will come. I appreciate the opportunity Tulsa gave me to meet about their program and wish them the best of luck in their search. I look forward to continuing to work with Coach Petrino towards our goal of winning championships.”

Love hearing that.  He has his goals, but isn't rushing them.

I like McGee more and more.  A great example and mentor for the young kids in our program.

Smart move. I'd rather sit under Bobby Petrino and learn from the master than be the head man at Tulsa.

Tulsa would be a good gig for a starting head coach position.. They win ball games, are in an easy conference, and have decent recruits in the surrounding areas.

Im surprised he withdrew his name.  My thinking is he knew something that we dont and decided he would throw the final punch to keep his reputation on the rise.

From what I hear they were only paying $500,000 per year and that is not a good situation to start out in.He isn't far from that now and probably would be fighting a facilities shortfall.
