I count 8 SEC teams ahead of us.  Not that it matters, but it does show that we have room for improvement.

BR:
Shows we are going to have to pay to get a Top Line Coach. That 4 Mil number guys are throwing around is where it's going to have to be.

BossHawg_Outlaw:
If you want Beard you are going to have to make it 5,000,000 at least.

Torqued pork:
Even with their success it's hard to believe Wichita St. is paying 3.5 million. WOW

BR:
We are going to have to become #3 on that list to get Beard, then he still might say no..

hogwood:
If you can glean anything from this data, its that you pay for what you get. Therefore if our BOT and HY are willing to do what it takes to be elite again, they will be forking out a top 10 salary.

pigroots:
Scott Drew looks good on that list. Lots of production for a guy with no buyout and 3 mil a year. Bruce Pearl a steal for Auburn

navyhog24:
If they offer the $6M a year that is going around and we get Beard. The fans will come out in droves again. Beard will definitely deliver the product as he has shown he can do at TT. The salary will easily be covered.

Not arguing with you at all. In support of your post I submit that:

We have always been frugal with coaching salaries in every sport and that reflects our general attitude as an Arkansas “society”. We tend to look for a value where we can find it, whether or not we can afford more or not. We have little issues with home improvement (facilities) because we understand to maintain the status quo, we must invest there and it’s non-negotiable.

I suspect there has to be a tipping point somewhere in the future for our coaching selections needing to meet our infrastructure improvements in terms of success and modernization.

We’ll see.

BR:
Getting interesting when you start looking at the buy-outs. It’s keeping Dixon at TCU. Are we willing to pay the buy outs some of these coaches have..  I have no sources or clue who will be our next coach. I just hope HY shocks us in a great way.   A few years ago the hot name was Mark Turgeon, he has done ok at Maryland. Now the hot name is Beard, who is writing the check. Tech-Hogs-UCLA

Arkansas has always been a cheap ass when it comes to paying for a head coach.  If you want to compete with the elite teams you have to pay the price.

moses_007:
The Georgia coach gets $3.2 million for the product he puts on the floor?  They must not care about basketball in Athens.

Agree - except in our case the past 8 years - didn't have a top 40 program - and crazy Pearl only making a bit more than Anderson
