I won't support the current staff. Won't attend a game until new regime. But I don't think I will have to miss games next year. Just a feeling.

I'm sure he does. Just like every coach that has ever made some kind of coaching stop in Arkansas is dying to get back.

You'd be surprised.

Yeah. I'm sure those "good friends" are just that If they are telling everyone his private thoughts.

What do I think is more likely? Beard would come to Arkansas or people who have had access to beard in the past want to pad the ego a little bit and make it seem like they know more than they do?

I mean was he even there a full calendar year? The guy seems like he is a workaholic. I'm not sure he had enough roots set in Little Rock to become close friends with anyone

Put it this way. If it cost so much money for Razorback basketball to be great again that a family would have to have a household income of $200,000 a year to afford season tickets, go for it.

Tired of being content with being pretty good, regardless of who the coach is.

Win, and a a damn high level.

Actually, we thought we had hired the next Chris Beard back in the day when we hired Stan Heath. Most of these flash in the pan types fizzle out in the spotlight.

If anyone could so easily spot the next homerun hire from the mid-major ranks, that guy wouldn't be wasting time posting on here because he'd be booked solid headhunting for P5 vacancies right now.

Well, we paid Bielema around 25 to 30 million dollars to just try to get us to being an average/mediocre program in football and that failed miserably so apparently opening the checkbook ain't all there is to it.

Heath was hired because of Nolanís lawsuit.

The last basketball coach Broyles hired is in the NCAAT.

Beard is not a flash in the pan.

The comparison to Heath is absurd. Beard has twice the resume Stan did. We would never have hired Stan under normal circumstances.....

Very impressed with Sampson's squad as well. Beard, Buzz, and Sampson(maybe) making it to the sweet 16. Count them as my top 3 at the moment.

It certainly isn't, but instead of sitting around playing the "woe is me" card and lamenting about how we used to be worth a damn, we need to figure out what it is going to require to be at that level again and then do our damndest to make it happen.

Tubby Smith rebuilt Texas Tech and then left. Beard built nothing but has done a great job as a head coach.

I always love the apples to oranges comparisons. What's even better is the lack of knowledge about the coaches. Chris Beard loves Tech. He cut his coaching teeth there.

He was a known commodity not some no name flavor of the week bum like we hire. He is at home. He won't leave except for a blue blood job. But please keep throwing his name out there.
. So Shadow what do you base your assumption on?  Conversation with Beard?  Tech AD?  While Iím not predicting a Beard move to Fayetteville, I do know he has told friends of mine he thinks AR is one of the best jobs in NCAA basketball.

Agreed. I would be extremely excited if we hired beard. Homerun hire in my book.

I just don't see him coming to Arkansas. Everyone has a price, but we aren't going to spend that much money which I'm thinking would have to be quite a lot.

Well, I wouldn't say he's the best LOL. There are college coaches out there still coaching that have won multiple nat'l championships. But Beard's a very good coach no doubt.

Give Beard Coach K and Roy Williams talent and he would beat them

You are correct.  Two of our last 3 basketball Head Coach hires have been flash-in-the-pan.

Stan Heath  1 flash-in-the-pan season (1 at Kent State)

Mike Anderson  2 flash-in-the-pan seasons (1 at UAB and 1 at Missouri)

Stan Heath 1 year at Kent         30-6  17-1 Elite 8

Chris Beard 1 year at UALR       30-5  17-3 NCAA 2nd round

Erase the names and what you know about them and just go off of those records and tell me, who do you hire?

Anderson will never sniff the Final Four on his own without Nolan.

I feel pretty confident in saying that the end game has begun. May not be this year, but it is coming. I remember what Kenny Hatfield said about why he went to Clemson: ďBecause I knew the next time I went 7-5, Iíd be fired.Ē

Mike thinks he is insulated. We may be about to find out if he is right.

Liberty is a good team.  A 4 point win by Liberty is not really owning Howland.

Now if you want to talk about owning, Howland is 4-1 against Anderson, including the following win in Bud Walton in which Howland's team was basically on cruise control for much of the game.

He said HAS not HAD. However Chris did have a better resume as a full blow head coach at least at some level. At four different places to be exact and he won nicely at all of them. Check it out itís pretty impressive. Stan had never been a head coach prior to Kent State. He had been a good assistant prior to that.

Beard has Texas Tech rolling.
They are in a Power 5 conference and he likes Lubbock.
Why in God's name would he leave what he's currently got going - leaving for anything other than a Blue Blood (Kentucky, Duke, NC) doesn't make sense to me.

He won the Big 12 conference regular season - dethroning Kansas.
He went to the Elite 8 last year - he's in the Sweet Sixteen this year.

I agree. If a coaching change is made now, and that's a big if, Beard isn't a realistic option IMO. He's already coaching in a P5 conference, why make a move to another? Unless it's for a blueblood school as you stated.

Now K Sampson wanting to move up from the AAC to the SEC, that's more realistic I would think.

I suspect Beard will stick it out at Tech while he waits for the Texas HC position to open, which will more than likely be at the end of next season.

Also, if things go south for Bill Self at KU and he's forced out, you can bet Beard will be one of the top replacement candidates.

If Beard is that good and competitive, he will listen to the right offer and Arkansas still has a lot to offer as a program.  We need to make a home run hire or none at all.  Firing Anderson to hire a Stan Heath would be idiotic.

Texas Tech is the worst job in the Big 12.  I doubt Beard retires there.  Now he may want to hold out for a Texas or maybe even a KU-type job if he can continue the success till offered one of those.

Beard would be my #1 but keep hearing he loves where he's at.

I've spent a considerable amount of time in Lubbock and Amarillo and Midland.  I don't see how it would be possible for anyone that has ever been anywhere else in the country to love west Texas.
