They scrimmaged. There were four offensive fumbles mostly by the fill in running backs. T.J. Smith returned one 60 yards on a scoop and score. Jarques McClellion came in the interview room afterward holding what looked like one of those boxing title belts. I guess he was the MVP of the scrimmage. He said the defense has been dominating the offense in most of the scrimmaging. Chase Hayden countered that by saying the offense won Saturday's full scale scrimmage. Colton Jackson admitted that it was a bad day for the offense.

Otis will have a full report later.

I think the belt is awarded to the offense or defense, depending on who the coaches deemed "won" on a particular day, rather than an individual award.

You are correct but he was holding onto it like it was his. He also made some pretty bold claims about what the defense is going to do this fall.

Smith put in a plug for new D-tackles coach Kenny Ingram. Said his approach is much more aggressive. Go after the QB. Period.

Interesting, and I like it. But this just puts heavy emphasis in my mind on having some disciplined LBs ready.

This is why I hate spring practice because hearing that the defense (which was really bad last year) is dominating the offensive which is supposed to be improved makes me think the offensive is still struggling. Ugh!  Wake me when the season starts.

I am glad the defense is winning these scrimmages.  It is suppose to be this way.  It is hard to run against your own defense because they know your plays and schemes so well.

So lets hope the D wins.  But the O should still be able to get a few BIG PLAYS in though. Lets hope we can do that.

You beat me too it.  The Defense has a very good idea of what's coming and will pin it's ears back with no hesitation.  This will FORCE the Offensive Line & Skill player's to adjust and not just GO-THROUGH-THE-MOTIONS on the practice field.
