Scott's a fraternity brother of mine. Many of us have known this since it happened. Glad it now can be shared.

That game was played before the NCAA banned all local market shooting of NCAA tournament games at the direction of CBS which paid huge bucks for the rights.

I was up top shooting. I've seen just about every angle of that shot dozens of times over the years including my own. I find it amazing that I never noticed what happened to the ball after it dropped through. The non digital video from those days hasn't held up well but you can clearly see him run onto the court and catch the ball on its second bounce. He then races off the court just like he said.

I'd like to know who sold US Reed on the notion that the ball he's had all these years was the ball he shot. Sounds like the managers could not figure out what happened to it so they faked it. Or maybe Sutton did. Who knows? Really interesting though.

Brings back a lot of memories.  I watched that shot in a motel room in Tuscaloosa waiting for the regional that night.

I'll never forget Abe calling the Hogs!  "I knew when Reed got that ball with five seconds left it was five seconds too many!"

Then they fired him the next day.  Oops!

Or was stolen, now returned.

Statute of limitations on stealing basketball has run.

Good story.

Ulysses sat right behind me in high school world history class.

I went home for that weekend and watched the game on TV. I seriously thought Dad was going to have a heart attack when he hit that shot. I was downright scared.

Two years ago, I was driving over the Blue Ridge Mtns at night in the snow and my daughter called and said I should listen to the William & Mary game (her school, of the forgotten 4), so I streamed into radio over the phone. Half court shot rimmed out at the buzzer (c. 40 years after U.S. beat Louisville).

That night in the hotel , I had this long, hilariously bizarre dream, but at the end, somebody had put a container of punch in the office and a co-worker tells me "Try the punch, it's delicious." So I start filling a cup out of a little tap and from behind me comes a voice saying, "You can't drink that. That's only for donors!" I turn around and its U. S. scolding me (looking like he did in 1975) and I woke up laughing.
