Title: Incoming CC/T&F Freshman named Gatorade Female Track Athlete of the Year
Post by: Hogfan_14 on July 06, 2020, 03:51:37 pm
Incoming Cross Country and Track & Field Freshman Taylor Ewert named Gatorade NATIONAL Female Track Athlete of the Year.  This award very rarely goes to distance runners in lieu of sprinters or field athletes, so a pretty amazing accomplishment.

Her times are insane for high school.  Her mile PR alone (4:48) would have qualified for the NCAA Championships in that event (converted to 1500m would have been 4:26, which would have placed her 24th at Nationals in 2019. Our All American Carina Viljoen ran 4:21 in this race).  She's also an elite steeplechase athlete, which is one distance event we've lacked in recent years at an elite level.  More details in the link below on the AR.com website.

That is awesome! Looking forward to some continued dominance in Women's TF/XC!

For sure!  She'll definitely help in Cross country after we lose 3 seniors plus Redshirt sophomore-to-be Katrina Robinson who won't be returning.  Still a bit of a rebuilding year, but should still be pretty salty.
