Incredible how fast we can lose a big lead.

You can just feel it coming. But we just keep jacking up shots and turning it over....no control.

I mean, we did just win back-to-back games in which we blew leads...Bradshaw perfectly stated that in the past few games we just had to make a couple plays in the end, but tonight we collapsed with 10 minutes left.

We have one of the best big men in the country, and we saw tonight how badly this team can collapse without his solid play.

When Gafford is matched in size and skill he looks completely lost

Way too many drives to the basket out of control and throwing up a prayer for a miracle shot or a charity foul call.

Whatever happened to getting a lead like that, then slowing it down and eat some clock? Particularly in the second half when the pressure of being behind starts to build, and particularly when it appears on the court that some personnel could use a breather? Is it now just absolutely forbidden in D1 basketball to play any sort of possession game?

A good coach stops that after a few minutes especially with a long bench like ours.

We have a good big man that canít post up and get a bucket when one is needed, especially against an equal sized big man.

We play an outdated system. No lead is safe and usually no deficit is too big unless we are outgunned.

For some reason the Willie Nelson version of "Lookin for a place to fall apart" just kept ringing in my head.

The team chemistry is in flux right now.  The coaches are not keeping Jones and Harris from overcompensating or dealing the interior feed to Gafford.   After 23 games this is not a subject we should be discussing.  The coaching staff still has not corrected the lack of movement, cutting and spacing on offense.  The offensive set begins with some movement, DG is in position but they still don't feed the post.... and then everyone stands around except Jalen or Jones.

Jalen Harris get frustrated when they all stop moving and cluster together.  Jalen barks at the team and I have to think that is not helping team chemistry.  I don't understand why they let Harris feel so much pressure to coach the other players instead of the coaches correcting it???? The coaches should correct this in practice and especially in-game because the players just wait and watch.  The coaches need to keep Jalen and Mason from getting frustrated.  Jalen's frustration and desire to win makes him or Mason Jones want to over compensate and take over way too much.

Threes or steals.

When they can not get these then they are done.

What you're both asking for would require some offensive structure...which we don't have.  I cringed in the second half during the meltdown when they showed a close up of Jones about to inbound the ball and you could see him yelling "Free" as the play call.  The last thing we needed at that moment was a "Free" offensive possession.  What we needed was a play call designed to give someone a good opportunity to score and stop the bleeding.  But we don't have that in the play book.  Instead the guys on the floor have to figure it out on their own with a basic motion offense.

It has to be disheartening as a player to know that things are unraveling and your coach has nothing for you to help reel things back in.

From what I have learned, the opponent scoring so fast indeed messes you up.

Kentucky lost a big lead and squeaked out a win over Miss St; Auburn lost a big lead to LSU and then LSU went up big and held on to win by a point. That's from watching just a couple of games in the SEC Saturday.

It happens whether you're watching Big Monday; SEC Tuesdays or whatever ESPN is showcasing just about any day/night of the week. Heck I watched the Lakers fritter away a 20+ lead over Houston a few weeks ago. It's basketball and easily understood. It's not something that only afflicts Arkansas and especially a team as young as the Hogs.

Yes, it puts me into a panic when I see it about to happen over and over like ground hog day:

Keep running when you don't have the numbers
Force the ball to a shooter who is hot but now is well covered, yet thinking, well ó he's hot and can make it with guys hanging on him...
Don't hit the O boards because its going in and who needs to rebound

No, it's not, except at Arkansas where to run out of control and under any circumstances is your birthright.

Portis and Kingsley All-SEC bigs. Gafford will be All SEC this year. Gafford and Kingsley both started playing basketball late and developed quite a bit at Arkansas. But hey, with coaching they would have turned into Zion Williamson. Okay.....

3 All SEC bigs in a row but no coaching. What's funny is that some actually believe that no coaching mantra that you and others post on here.

Uptempo basketball has long been established a philosophy in college and high school basketball. Every style of play has its pros and cons. Any style of play can look out of control if not executed properly.
