Mizzou Penalized in Baseball (Amongst Other Sports)

Many of you probably know this, but Mizzou received a steep penalty from the NCAA that will impact them this coming year for baseball.

I don't agree with the scholarship reduction for baseball for them, but it is what it is.

The 5% reduction will cut their 11.7 scholarships down to 11.115 scholarships.  While the 0.585 reduction doesn't seem like much, it could be the difference between people deciding to sign in the draft versus return.  The coaches are going to have to tell returning student athletes they will get less scholarships because of something that happened before the students (and the coaching staff) arrived in Missouri.

The penalty makes sense in the other sports where you get full scholarships for each player.  In that arena, you are talking about limiting the number of players on the team as the penalty.  In baseball, you are penalizing the student athletes by making them pay more to go to college.  It's nonsensical at best and damaging the game at worst.
