Moving to natural grass
« on: February 01, 2019, 09:43:52 am »

Is it still the plan to move to natural grass for the upcoming season? Haven't heard much on this topic lately.

I've heard maybe a hybrid of real and turf. Maybe turf on the outside but grass on the actual playing surface?

I hope it's a cross bluegrass, Kentucky bluegrass, featherbed bent, and northern California sinsemilla.

So, I tell them I’m a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald… striking. So, I’m on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one – big hitter, the Lama – long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga… gunga, gunga-lagunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he’s gonna stiff me. And I say, “Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know.” And he says, “Oh, uh, there won’t be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.” So I got that goin’ for me, which is nice

Bad form.  There are three notable, widely quoted phrases in the above passage; any one of those is all that is needed in a thread like this (and two of them already were!).  To quote the entire passage is like buying the whole display of peanut boxes at 7 Eleven just so you can be assured of buying the one with a quarter "prize" in it.

I have no freakin idea what some of you are talking about. Apparently grass has evolved an awful lot since my heyday.

Ha!  I admit I never made the connection.  But still stand by my statement that grass has evolved.  All kinds of hybrids and cute names for different strands, plus it's much stronger these days.....so I hear.
