says he will be going off the air next month to focus on a 1 hour, weekly podcast discussing Arkansas sports and focusing on other digital medias. Something doesn't feel right with this announcement.

If the mic goes to Bart I will deprogram the channel from my search.  I sense Bart was being groomed but that is like putting lipstick on a pig.

Well this sucks.  Not only was his the best sports radio show in the state, but it was also the only competition to DTS.

So he's going to condense a 20 hour a week radio show to a one hour weekly podcast?  That sounds about right.

Bo's on air show is completely going away so none of his people will replace it. I figure somebody will step up and handle that slot. Maybe Phil Elson. Somebody with Razorback ties.

Phil Elson would be awesome.  The main problem would be time conflicts.  We need him and Bubba calling baseball games.

Time for you to do it John.  You are an alumnus of The University of Akansas.  You spent years in the student section.  You could be the voice of the diehard fan that also tells the truth.

The homers didn't like him because he told it like it was. It may have been a little crude at times, but it was truthful and highly entertaining. Also, he and Bazzel were great on the air together.

While I’m not a fan, he was always entertaining to make the good ole boys/homers butt pucker.

I never liked how he acted like the fans were stupid for getting rid of Long and CBB.  People like him telling us we should just sit back and be happy with what we have is the reason we are here today.  Basketball and football both have been on a steady decline because people want to make excuses instead of taking responsibility.

Did Bo lose some of his UofA connections when HY took over and CBB / JLong left? I think the transition really left a sour taste in his mouth.  He got really close w those two and it makes me wonder if he has been working on an exit since then...

Bo has had this dream for years.  He has now done some stuff for ESPN, has a good resume to produce content for others and make good money doing it.  I figured this was coming.  He was gone a lot over the last 18 months.

Who does Bo think he is, Joe Rogan ?  Does he think he's going to accrue a million or so signing up for his podcast ? Podcasting is a lucrative business but you must be talented in the ways of gab. You cannot have a guest on and do a radio type interview. Podcasting requires in-depth moments yet lighter moments combined. We shall see if he can make it. It's a huge risk, but if he has the tools to run a good podcast and develop a good sized audience, he'll make more money than he did in radio. However....

Exactly! "He tells it like it is, the Homers hate it" yada, yada, yada. How absurd! I don't want to hear Homers like Shaeffer, or the constant mangling of the English language of RR.

I also can't stand constant negativity and leading the chorus of "we will never be better than the 10th best program in the SEC",

"you can't compete at pore lil' ol' Arkinsaw"

"Almighty Bert is the best we can ever hope for" so be happy as clams for an occasional winning season and hope to achieve mediocrity while fielding a team ill-suited for the SEC.

A whole team of body builders who look like they are running in cement while opposing WRs and RBs leave a vapor trail running by them.

Things are bad. Most losses in school history bad. It didn't get that way overnight, but Morris was supposed to turn it around overnight?

Pointing out a lack of speed is "blaming the players" on here. How dare anyone notice that some players weren't playing hard or getting turnstiled or left in the dust after a half-hearted attempt at a tackle!

I don't give a flying fig if some consider that "blaming the players" or not, especially when some of the same people say Lil' Bo Peep "tells it like it is."

Maybe some have more gravitas to point out stuff like that such as DJ Williams or others who played at the college level, but if a fan says something that is essentially the same as a former player, does that make it false? NO!

Something is either accurate or it is not regardless of who says it. Even former players differ in opinions on whether a coach is the right guy or not or on a players ability or lack thereof..

I always enjoyed him calling out morons for being morons.

There were moron callers, I agree, but I didn't stick around to listen when he took calls most of the time. I listened strictly for the guests. Not to hear Clay drone on about fly fishing or what he was getting his daughters for Christmas, etc.

Or to hear Bart opine about nearly anything. I'm not a "just the facts ma'am" stick to sports guy, don't mind occasional banter, but the fly fishing and all that had me reaching for the channel change button..

He was extremely upset over the Jeff Long debacle. So many guaranteed narratives back then that got 100% proven wrong....lots of hurt feelings from that.

Just like with the rest of most our media....they get too buddy buddy with the coaches and in this case Jeff Long too. I guarantee you he is in regular contact with Houston Nutt and Bret Bielema to this day. So....then with that scenario you get what you get with the radio show. The best thing about his show was easily the quality of guests he brought to the table...but I quit listening cold turkey when he had his nervous breakdown over the Jeff Long/Bielema situation.

I bet their number of listeners are going in the tank over the past few years. The longer the sports teams continue to get worse the less people will care to listen to a call in show.
