I have never seen anything like it we would not have a loss this year had we hit our damn free throws....and it just seems to get worse. I think tonight we are one of six

They missed the front end of a one and one but that's about the only one I noticed. Our man to man switching D is as usual horrific. Burned play after play

Iíve said it all year but free throws will kill this team. They win EVERY SINGLE FREAKING GAME THEY HAVE LOST IF THEY COULD LEARN TO SHOOT FREE THROWS! And yes I yelled that. Sick of this crap. Shooters - supposed shooters, up there bricking. My 47 year old ass could out shoot every dang one of the line.  Get your asses in the dang gym and improve your stinking game.

I would love to see you air ball your easy free throws in front of 10k plus.

It's the 10k that is the issue.

The free throw issue makes me sick. That alone would be enough for me to fire MA.  Poor free throw shooting is on the coach. He's never addressed it or improved it

Our guys are 10 times the player you could be and they struggle with it.

Why don't you put your name in this year's draft Mr. Jordan?

haha. Ok. I have no doubt you speak from experience.

The point is we stink at it STATISTICALLY COMPARED TO THEIR PEERS. They need to work on it.

Point is what makes you think they don't? Do you go to practices and witness it not being worked on.

We have had good free throw shooting teams in the past. I guess you think this year the coaches wuit caring?

We do stink at free throws. It's awful, but it's not nearly as easy as the whiners in this thread claim. The claim the coaches don't care is just as dumb.

I didnít mention the coach.

Iím one of the few around here who still supports him.

I didnít say they donít work on it. They need to work more. Why? Because their results say they stink at it. The results show we have lost every stinking game close and had chances with free throws to win it every stinking game.

I donít care if it hurts their feelings. Good. Take some dang pride and fix it.

I know thereís pressure. Believe me. But I also know players at this level have to figure out how to overcome it and until they do, we will keep losing.

I donít know what MA does about it but everyone of them would be in the practice gym right now shooting 500 of them then theyíd be brought back tomorrow to do the same if I were coaching.

Proposed drill.  Run 'em hard for five minutes, stop, shoot 2 free throws, run 'em hard for three minutes, stop, shoot 2 free throws, run 'em hard for four minutes, stop, shoot 2 free throws.  Wash, rinse, repeat.

Coaching is a factor, but it's up to the player to step up to the line and concentrate on free throws. The LSU players were intent on making theirs. We seem to either nonchalantly flip it toward the rim or try to guide the ball in, never use the same shooting motion; they try to adjust on the fly. It makes the comeback mountain ever higher.

I donít know but I know what the players I played with would do. We would work our rears off on our own when we had an issue. Maybe our guys are. They need to keep on. This isnít a coach thing. This is about individual players needing to step their game up if they want to win and further if they want to maximize their own potential.

I agree but lack of hitting 3 pointers hurt us worse tonight.  The made 7 more than we did.

I have noticed this as well. Our guys lose focus on the line. You can literally see it.

Bailey is one it's really obvious with. When he is focused he is a serviceable shooter at the line.

With Joe and Harris, it's in their confidence levels. Those two are so tight at the line they could sick a lump of coal in thier butts and make diamonds before each shot.

I think it's a focus issue with Sills as well.

Maybe.  I'm not going to go look at how many were the first of make one get another but I see 11 points left off the board.  That doesn't make up for 21 more on 3 pointers.  Hope we agree both need to improve and fast I hope.

Keep on watching.   You will see the same thing next year and next year    This staff has no clue about many things    Rebounding and free throws are just two of them     7 years of data back this up

Agreed.  My HS coach used to make us shoot free throws in practice when we were tired.  I bet the Hogs do this also but they need a lot more practice!

Free Throws and rebounding were never a focus with Nolan and itís not with Mike either.

Haters can hate, but itís the truth.

When I played, if you missed a free throw in practice, you would run the lines. You learn real quick on how to hit free throws or you just get used to throwing up your guts because you run your arse off every practice.

Coach Sutton was a lot of things, but as a coach if a player couldnít hit free throws, play defense, or learn to pass, he didnít play. His offensive ability was about fourth on the list.

Free throws are muscle memory. 10 yr olds should make 70% of their free throws....so should D1 college players.....not much good to say about this team right now.
