Go to Vandy or Kentucky series?
« on: January 11, 2019, 10:06:14 am »

EI, give me some opinions. I live in Kentucky right now, about an hour north of Nashville and 1.5 hours from Lexington. I want to spend a weekend at an away series and either Vandy or UK are the easiest for me.  I should do both series, but probably wont be able to get away both weekends. Does anyone have any experience at these venues?  I've been to Nashville plenty, but never to Vandy's park.  How are the crowds at each?

Agree except Lexington has more bourbon.........that being said the ballfield at Vandy isn’t anything to write home about but Nashville overall is better.

Isn't it Vandy that has the guy that whistles non-stop?

Kentucky is opening a brand-new ballpark this season, for what it's worth.

Nashville is clearly a more interesting, livelier place than Lexington, but you already know that.

You'll probably have a better chance to see an Arkansas series win in Lexington.

Also, what hogfan98 said.  If you can't stand the thought of listening to two guys whistle for three solid hours, go to Lexington.

Didnt know about UK's new park, good info, thanks.

Lexington does sound more desirable for the enjoyment of the game. Also hate the whistle guys and I bet Lexington’s hotel rooms are half of what Nashville is, it’s gotten insane with hotel costs in Nash.  Thanks all.

Hognoxious isn't my cup of tea, either (if I'm decoding your comment correctly).

He shows up in all conditions and supports the team, so I have to respect that, but I wouldn't want to sit near him.

Anyway, this is a different topic for a different thread.

I agree with what others have said. I would enjoy Nashville a lot more but if I wanted the best game time experience, I would go with Kentucky.

He is a great guy and never uses profanity or anything that I would consider over the line. I love sitting near him.

I would second this. He is the definition of a true die-hard fan that does it the right way AND is actually effective in getting into the other teams', and occasionally but less frequently, umps' heads.

In 2015 I went to the AR/Vandy series in Nashville when Spoon and Benintendi were playing. I was in Nashville that weekend for the SEC basketball tournament. Walked up to the baseball box office and asked for infield seats and was told all infield seats had been purchased by season ticket holders.

There were probably six fans other than us sitting in the outfield bleachers. To use the restroom and to get concessions you had to go into the basketball arena. Very odd visitor fan experience.
