Ladybacks @ MIZ
« on: January 10, 2019, 05:59:01 pm »

Miz coming off of a very good win at Tennessee and the ladybacks getting back in the win column over Ole Miss. This will be a great measuring stick for us to see how weíve adjusted from game one. If my memory is right MIZ handed it to us up there last year. I hope to see us defensively rebound like we did against Ole Miss, especially in the first half. Keeping porter and Cunningham off of the boards will be tough. Unfortunately I believe MIZ will get us in this one but I really hope Iím wrong. Keep Sophie in check and porter off the boards and just maybe we can pull the upset!! WPS go hogs!!

Not that the transitive property means anything but we beat OM by 30 at OM while Miz beat OM by 23 in Columbia.  OM scored 55 points in each game.

No promises but it looks like this should go live in a few minutes.  Don't install anything just scroll down to the "listen live" and click.

MIZ missing some right around the rim early. They are taking advantage of their big guards and posting us up. So far not a bad start.

Much better quarter in My eyes. Iím wondering how many times are they going to be allowed to walk in the paint when they pick their dribble up. It was nice seeing fight.

Much better second half. Overall not great but last year we did get beat 88-54 at MIZ. Lots of improvement from year one to year two.

We have to get better at being ready to play at the opening whistle. We played them even in the second half. But 5 pts in 2Q is ... well, awful.

The team has relatively few scoring options, and when Dungee and Monk are both struggling, the team isnít able to find a solution yet.

Time to get back in the saddle and take on Vandy on Sunday.

Not a good game but one we did not expect to win.  We can not have bad quarters and need to play 40 minutes.  We have to beat Vanderbilt and then have 8 days to turn things around before we go to Tennessee who is definitely beatable having lost two in a row at home.

Dont quote me if I am remembering wrong but the last time we beat Tenner, I think we beat them at home (two years ago?).  Yes, they are very beatable.  But A&M (who is also very beatable this year) struggled with Vandy, so we can't take them lightly in the meantime.

We will struggle as an also ran mid level conference team this year, likely reaching a high threshold of about eight wins unless we see more potential on our bench and develop it further.  We do have a player who has as high points, blocks and rebounds per minute (in some cases more) than any of our starters but we really never use her.  She might help us take another step up or maybe not, but we are never going to know without trying.

It is right to invest some time in Rokia, she is worth that investment even if it also resorts in extra turnovers every time we do - at best she has been a net wash the last few times she has been used.  But you do that to develop a player for the long run.  With the uncertainty surrounding Oberg now - it is time to get over stubbornness and explore possibilities with the players we have on the roster or at least one more of them who has proven herself in her limited opportunities.

We must sign more size to get into the top tier. Shooters alone will not get us there.  I like PF type's who are 6'2ish athletes who can score and play bigger.  Do not have to all be 6'4+. Only the big dogs get those.

You are not going to win on the road when you only get 71 shots off in an offense geared for 90+, when your top three scorers go 8 for 37 (21%), when your other two starters get off only 8 shots, when a top reserve goes 1 for 7 (14%), and your other reserves only get 9 shots off.  Let's forget this game and move on and beat Vanderbilt Sunday.  Stay positive.
