Shane Buechele odds
« on: January 09, 2019, 03:52:04 pm »

We are the leader for Shane Buechele according to this.  Has the odds for Hurts, Wimbush and Buechele.  We are +200 for SB.  It's the third picture in the group.

Who can tell me more about this kid.  Looks like he started as a true freshman Charlie Strong's last year then part time last year and hardly anything this year.  Was a 4* dual threat QB coming out of HS.  So what are the details?

Saw that looking at his stats.  Thought it was odd since he was a dual threat QB.

Well SMU did offer him.  Also due to the number of games he played this year he will have 2 to play 2.

Would be great to get a name QB but after not getting Bryant despite the "great relationship" we always heard he had with Morris figure the best we will end up with will be the guy from SMU.

Was just reading up on him...like you said, he started as a true freshman in Strongís last year and broke (or came close to breaking) a lot of Colt McCoyís freshman records. Big 12 all-freshman. Then Herman is hired and brings in Ehlinger, Buechele gets hurt and Ehlinger takes over and does well. They play both QBs for a while before Herman finally settles on Ehlinger. So sounds like he could be a pretty good QB just dealt with some injury problems at Texas. Herman seems to prefer the Tebow-style QB which Ehlinger is a better fit for.

You guys don't remember Buechele? He was really good that year for Charlie. I figured folks would know who he is as much as ESPN talks about Texas. Would be a really good get.

Spring Grad I'm assuming.  But is he worth the wait if he has 2 years of eligibility left?  That way get a 2 year ROI not just 1.

Itís my understanding that there is a relationship between Shane Buecheleís father and Coach Traylor.  I believe Coach Traylor was on the Texas staff when Shane committed.

This would make sense in light of Morris's statement that he would be willing to wait until this summer for the right grad transfer. Had one of the recruiting gurus tell me yesterday that Morris was looking at a guy that did not graduate until May.

Morris did have a great relationship with KB.  That is the ONLY reason he gave us the time of day.

worth the wait since you get him for 2 years.

That's what I'm thinking and if he graduates in May, get him up here at the beginning of the summer, can still spend two months learning the playbook and working with receivers on his own before fall camp starts.

He had battled injuries as well. Which for his frame may continue.

But kid can throw it.

Indeed. He had surgery this past January to repair a torn abductor. Certainly nothing to take lightly but also not major. he wasn't even listed on their injury report last spring. I think he's 100% and eager to prove himself.

That's not why he didn't play more this year though, so hopefully, he has built himself up in the weight room in addition to carrying a clipboard on the sidelines.

He should be fresh, only played in 2-3 games in the 2018 season IIRC.

No word yet on that. I believe a player can't enter the portal until they graduate which he won't do until May. Which means no soup for you! as far as spring practice.

The coaches can't contact a player until he is in the portal or it's tampering, so I would assume there is contact through back channels. Morris/Traylor probably know his HS coach, so the coach could let them know what his intentions are or something like that.

With Ehlinger being behind him or even in eligibility, I can't imagine any kind of competitor would stay knowing the HC isn't going to play you barring an injury or injuries..

Nope, you can be put into the portal after you tell your existing staff you are transferring. I think they have a maximum of 5? days to put you in.

Yeah, this almost guarantees weíre getting a grad transfer. Donít know if this is our guy, but coaches wouldnít have let Storey walk if they didnít know we were getting a replacement.

Could this potentially have anything to do with the new Storey news? Obviously Buechle hasnít publicly said he is transferring but could the coaches know something already?

This the guy I have been begging for since KB bounced. Definitely the best available QB on the market, imo- better than Hurts, KB, Wimbush, or Robinson.

I can't wait to pop the bottles for this Baw!

I live in Austin and my boys played and play at Westlake (where Sam E went...my oldest played with him). And my wife is a huge horn fan. So I, unfortunately, am very knowledgeable about texas football.

The word is that he does have the great arm...but he requires a very strong line. When he has the time, he can be solid but the complaint is that he has a tendency to take a bunch of sacks. And he does not do well without a wall in front of him.  Which is one of the reasons they made the switch to Sam last year.

Buechele was obviously very young, so he is no doubt smarter, stronger, better. And I do think heís probably the best transfer option and it sounds like it makes a lot of sense that we would lead for him.

Bring him on!

Have you watched any video? Buechele is perfect for what Morris wants to do Offensively. He is not going to win games running the ball but he is a better passer and makes quicker decisions than any QB currently on campus.

He started as a true freshman but Herman took over the next year and he is not as suited for that offense as Ehlinger (who is Tebow 2.0)
