Why does Pittman follow him like a sick puppy?  They got a great thing going on at GA, why start over again.

Maybe he still has his old house there.  That would be convenient.

The way teams in the SEC pass around the same coaches is odd.  I think I saw a couple retreads on Alabama's sideline last night.

The hot rumor is within a year or two Bert is going to be back into college coaching and that Chaney and Pittman will be back with him. Some are saying that Chaney is about to be demoted at Georgia and Pittman is not happy about it.

This from Mike Irwin on the 4th of January. Obviously Mike had a solid source and perhaps the reason for this move. Does Pittman return to Tennessee with Chaney? Will Chaney or Pittman sign a non-compete? Very interesting and good call Mike Irwin.

I don't really see this as a big get for Tenner. Although the media people are acting like it is. Average hire for them, they needed a more innovative offensive system though and I'm not sure Chaney brings that. He does have a decent resume and produced back to back top 10 offensive units.

I'm really interested in the rumors about Bret, and if he does return, who would hire him and who he gets on his staff.

This has been rumored from UGA fans for a few days now.  What they don't know about yet is Pittman.  It's quiet when it comes to him.  I would expect a more transition to a throw it around and spread it out OC to come in though.  Also, UGA fans are scremaing for a screen game... all of which sounds sooo familiar!

THere is no reason that Ridley kid shouldn't have 100 yards receiving every game at UGA.

I hope Georgia crashes and burns.
Hope that Pittman follows Chaney.

It just seems pretty stupid to me, to shake up a staff that won an SEC Championship, played in a National Championship game last year and was right there again this year.
The most boneheaded decision in the SEC Championship game came from the head guy.

Here's Chaney's numbers at Georgia.

"Georgia averaged 35 points and 435 yards per game and finishing in the top 20 in scoring in 2017, and the Bulldogs averaged 30 more yards per game and finished second behind Alabama with a 38-point per-game scoring average this season.

The Bulldogs were 14th nationally in scoring and 18th nationally in total offense while ranking 16th in rushing and fourth nationally in pass efficiency.

Chaney’s offenses in Athens have been impressively balanced. This season the Bulldogs led the SEC in rushing at 238 yards per game and also averaged 226 passing yards per game. Georgia also led the conference in rushing in 2017, and quarterback Jake Fromm saw his passer rating jump by 11 points from his freshman season to his sophomore campaign in 2018."

BB doesn't want anything to do with the SEC. He knows he sucks and next time around, he can't use the set back by the motorcycle excuse and Arkansas cant recruit at a high level for being a terrible coach.

Bloating is one of the most dangerous side effects of obesity for guys like that.  He's retaining Hoover Dam type volumes of water.  Very serious.  Go back and look at some pics of Bielema.  Same affliction.  You hide the salt shaker from those guys and avoid getting between them and any food product.  And look out for flying buttons.  They zing off like .38 slugs.

No way this was Chaney's idea. Kirby's probably channeling his inner Bert and shaking up the staff to get to that elusive "next level."

Kirby Smart has had a very good to great run so far there, but without Saban, he might be like Bert was without Alvarez' adult supervision.

That bone-headed fake punt in the SECCG was very Bert-like. Richt was never going to get them as far as Smart has, but sometimes just a fresh start with a new coach can propel a team and they had top 10 recruiting classes in the years before he took over.

Now you see the Justin Fields drama, they have blown leads vs 'Bama the last 2 years and GA fans saw Clemson curbstomp 'Bama like no one has since the Shula era. I can see where there might be some rumblings that Kirby might not be so smart..

People forget that Steele was the DC at Clemson before Venables. The year after Dabo brought Morris in to run the offense, Clemson lost 70-33 to WV in a Bowl game.

WV kept running a trap play with Tavon Austin that Steele never figured out how to stop and he got a 70 burger hung on his behind..

Then Dabo brought Venables in which has been instrumental in their transition into a top program, or THE top program in CFB.

It's funny because Venables was derided by most OU fans as an incompetent bungler..

That would be Will Friend and he's supposedly very close to Pruitt.  Given Irwins comment, I wonder if the 3 musketeers are planning to rejoin at a destination other than Tennessee.  I mean, Chaney left Arkansas for Pitt, before later joining Pittman at Georgia.  Some think it's hard to imagine Pruitt replacing Friend with Pittman and then where does Bielema fit in, if anywhere at all?

Was listening to the Vols sports radio yesterday, and the callers were all very positive about this and thought it was a solid hire. If he was rehired at Arkansas, there would be people on suicide watch. So either Vols fans don't know football as well as hogville, or Chaney isn't as bad of an OC as some of you think. I personally put a lot of the blame on everything wrong with Bert's tenure on Bert AND not his OCs

Agreed..but I will say Chaney moves around allot...not good for any program's consistency. He's been at Tn., Ar., Pitt, Ga, and now Tn. again within the last 6-7 years. Something not right there, seems to either bolt or wear out his welcome very quickly.

Chaney is a damn good OC.
It'll be interesting to see if that Georgia offense averages 38 points per game and 7 yds. per play next year plus gets to the SEC championship game and is in contention for the playoffs.

Chaney only helped get that program to 2 SEC Championship games in 3 years - plus played for a National Championship.
