How can a recipe be "silly" if you haven't tried it?

Right? It's got Rotel, butter and honey.  What could be silly about that?

Wouldn't you have to break through a choke hold to get to those wings for them to be true McTelvin Rotel Wings ???

I thought they would be using rotel as a base for sauce for wings. Instead it's a mixture of pureed tomatoes, honey, and blue bonnet margarine (WTH) smeared over baked wings?

I have several questions.

Why not just bake the wings with dry seasoning and then reduce the mixture down to a glaze?

Wouldn't the smear fall off the wing when you pick it up to eat it? and wouldn't the smear also only go about half on a wing since wings are small? The rest would fall off anyway.

Why make a dip out of the same ingredients you're making the toppings out of?

Just seems like a silly recipe to me. I'm sure it tastes fine but it could 100% be improved.

Agreed from that aspect you are entirely correct. I tend to look at recipes differently. I look at the ingredients and decide the technique needed and what you suggested is exactly what I would do.

This recipe is obviously one of those use as many brands owned by the parent company recipe you often see with recipe contests.

twistitup:
Maybe McTelvin will post his recipe to clear all of this up.

DeltaBoy:
Looks good.
