  • WOOOOOOOOOO PIG SOOIE

Defense actually had some very impressive stops this year. But offense often put them in bad situations.  The last good D we had was Philon and Trey flowers.

Jake Bequette and crew were the last good defense.

Great?  In the SEC?  The only one that comes close is '95 under Joe Lee Dunn, and it was on the really good side of good, but not great, especially the last three games.

We had a great defense in 2014.

  • Excuse me, sir. Did you just insult that pig?

We didn't have any "great" defenses in the Bielema era.  We may have had something not as bad as the defense became during his tenure (see 2017) but it was not great.  We haven't had a truly nasty defense since the mid-90's.

We finished in the top 10 defense in both yards and points with back to back shutout of ranked teams.

You sir are mistaken

10th in the nation in total defense and #2 in the SEC is a great defense and that was in 2014. I'd take one of those every year.

Dude, I was in the stadium against LSU and Ole Miss in 2014. That defense was legit. Philon and Flowers wreaked havoc.

If you set the bar high enough, we didn't have a great defense in 1964 either.

Now that’s a mighty high bar, lol. Shutout the last five opponents in the regular season and held the juggernaut, Nebraska, to seven in the Cotton Bowl to win the NC. But you already knew that.  Man I sure miss the good ole days.

Burns D in 98 and 99, I think, gave up 297 and 303 / game.

The best D after that was the year the hogs played FL in SECCG, I'm thinking 340 or something lower.

The 2014 defense was strange because it came from nowhere and then disappeared when the key players left. It was hard for me to appreciate it because I didn't expect it.

Don't know any numbers or statistics, but the 2003 defense was pretty nasty.

The 1977 Razorback team played defense better than any I can remember, including the 1964 team.

If you choose to watch any of it, you'll have to skip ahead because it's a full game tape, including pregame stuff and even commercials.

Multiple sacks and hurries, swarming to the ball, opening holes on the offensive line, long passes for TD.

We were Arkansas.

Kieth Burns days we had some mean SOBs playing defense. Back then defense won games and defensive coaches coached to win. Now days I couldn't tell you what the hell the goals of defensive players are.

I think of guys like kenoy Kennedy, Ken Hamlin, and quinten caver...unless you are talking about one of the blue bloods like Bama or LSU, there just aren't players like this anymore.

That team's pass defense was particularly excellent, not that pass defense was noticed that much in 1977.

We're in the SEC; we field an SEC caliber defense every season. We need to field an SEC caliber defense in something other than 22LR.
