MMQB FOOTBALL GAME THREADS ARE READ AND POST.
This game thread is open for all members in good standing to post in as long as you follow the HOGVILLE and GAME THREAD Rules. If you have not read them, please do. Rules Link here:   http://forums.hogville.net/index.php?topic=666522.0

A couple of points from the Game Thread Rules Thread:
4. Civil conversation is encouraged. We do not care if you have a positive, negative, or neutral outlook as long as you keep it civil. Some of our best discussions in EI have centered around negative slanted conversation. The misnomer is you must spit rainbows and butterflies, and its simply not true. We expect and love a great debate.

5. Have fun. The purpose of the game threads is to make the board a little more enjoyable for the fan. Imagine it this way...You're sitting around with a group of friends at the game, at a bar, or at your living room. Enjoy being around other fans and talking about a sport we all live and die with. Keep other people in mind as you post and ask yourself if you're adding to or taking away from the experience.

http://www.arkansasrazorbacks.com/10-things-to-know-lsu/

10 Things to Know – LSU

1. Saturday is senior night, as the Razorbacks will honor 16 seniors in a pregame ceremony. This year’s class includes student-athletes from eight different states, five from the natural state, one from another country and one from Fayetteville in Dre Greenlaw. Jared Cornelius and Kevin Richardson II have both been Razorbacks since 2013, with Richardson in his sixth year of eligibility in 2018. Since 2014, the senior class has 28 victories and three bowl appearances. Seven of the 15 seniors have already graduated. The 17 seniors are: TE Austin Cantrell, WR Jared Cornelius (graduate), WR Gary Cross, OL Hjalte Froholdt, OL Johnny Gibson Jr., LB Dre Greenlaw, FB Kendrick Jackson, DB Ryder Lucas (graduate), OL Deion Malone (graduate), TE Jeremy Patton, DB Santos Ramirez (graduate), DL Randy Ramsey, DB Kevin Richardson II (graduate), DL Michael Taylor II, OL Brian Wallace (graduate) and DL Armon Watts (graduate).

2. For the fourth time in five years, SEC Nation will broadcast live from Fayetteville. The two-hour pregame show airing on SEC Network will delve into the storylines of Southeastern Conference football, the weekend’s biggest matchups and more before the Razorbacks and Tigers face off. This year’s show will originate from Lot 60 at Bud Walton Arena (corner of Razorback Rd. & Leroy Pond Rd.) and will air from 9-11 a.m. Laura Rutledge hosts the traveling pregame show, navigating the Saturday morning conversations with analysts Tim Tebow, Marcus Spears and Paul Finebaum, along with reporter Lauren Sisler. Finebaum’s ‘The Paul Finebaum Show’ will be held in the same location on Friday, Nov. 9, from 2-6 p.m. The Razorbacks are 2-1 when SEC Nation rolls into Fayetteville, claiming each of the last two victories with the show the campus of Arkansas. It is the sixth time the Razorbacks have been the featured game for the SEC Nation broadcast.

3. Along with senior night & SEC Nation festivities, the Arkansas/LSU matchup has a piece of hardware attached to the series that the Razorbacks will look to keep in Fayetteville for the next year. The Golden Boot Trophy is a 24-carat memento shaped in the outline of the states of Arkansas and Louisiana. The trophy weighs approximately 175 pounds and stands four feet tall. It was originally created by former Arkansas linebacker David Bazzel (1981-85) and was first awarded in 1996. LSU leads the Golden Boot series, 14-8, with the Razorbacks last claiming the trophy in 2015 on a 31-14 win in Baton Rouge.

4. The Razorbacks trail the all-time series with the Tigers 39-22-2, with the series dating back to 1901. Arkansas has won two of the last four meetings, picking up back-to-back wins in 2014 & 2015. The two teams have only met in Fayetteville four times, including each of the last three even years, while the first came in 1992. Both teams have two wins at DWRRS in the series.

5. Sophomore running back Rakeem Boyd posted his third 100-yard rushing performance in four games after tallying 113 on the ground against Vanderbilt. He is one of seven players in the SEC with three or more 100-yard games this season. Boyd’s three 100-yard performances, combined with Devwah Whaley’s at Colorado State (165) have pushed the school total to 328, with the first coming from Richard Miller in 1928. Boyd is one of seven SEC student-athletes with three or more 100-yard performances this year & is the 38th Razorback with at least three over their Arkansas careers. The Razorbacks have had at least one 100-yard rusher ever year since 1983 – 35 consecutive seasons.

6. Junior kicker Connor Limpert was named a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award on Nov. 1, which is presented annually to the nation’s top kicker. The Allen, Texas, native is one of 20 semifinalists up for the honor, as he is 16-of-20 in FG attempts this year and owns the longest field goal made among the group & the second-longest in the country this season at 55 yards. Limpert is one of the most accurate kickers in school history, aided by 10-straight made over the previous five weeks of competition. His 16 in 2018 also sits at 10th all-time among Razorback kickers for FGM in a single season.

7. Offensive lineman Hjalte Froholdt and defensive lineman Armon Watts were the latest Razorbacks to be recognized by Pro Football Focus’ SEC Teams of the Week for their week nine performances. Froholt graded out at 78.8 after anchoring the offensive line for the 33rd consecutive game, while Watts earned a 75.2 mark after picking up a sack to go with six tackles, three solo, against Vanderbilt on Oct. 27. The duo added to Arkansas’ total of eight ‘Team of the Week’ honorees by PFF this season, including each of the last six weeks, dating back to the fourth week of the year when the outlet began grading players by conference.

8. No other defense in the SEC has a tackling trio as accomplished as Arkansas. Senior De’Jon Harris (93) leads the league in total & solo tackles, while senior defensive back Santos Ramirez (64) and senior linebacker Dre Greenlaw (60) rank sixth & ninth, respectively, in tackles. The Razorback trio has combined for 217 stops this season, while the next closest threesome in the league sits at 213. The combination of Harris and Ramirez is also the top tackling duo in the conference. At least one member of the trio has had 10 or more tackles in each of the last five games & eight of the last nine contests, with all three accomplishing the feat against Texas A&M (9/29) and Alabama (10/6).

9. The Razorbacks are getting a lot of production out of the underclassmen on the roster this season. Fifty-seven of the 198 starting spots this season have gone to freshmen or sophomores, with 22 of those spots going to freshmen. Eight of the team’s 11 rushing touchdowns have come from underclassmen, with QB Cole Kelley leading the team (three). Five of the 15 receiving TDs have been hauled in by freshmen or sophomores, with five different players doing so. A first-year Razorback has scored a touchdown in each of the last three games, with an underclassmen scoring in each of the last five contests. Arkansas has had three first-time starters in back-to-back games.

10. Over the course of SEC play, the Razorbacks have increased their yards per play averages from week-to-week (4.1, 4.9, 5.7, 6.8, 6.9). Arkansas has also improved its average yards per rush marks over the last three SEC games (5.5, 6.3, 7.1). The Razorbacks have rushed for 170+ yards in each of the last four games and recorded over 400 yards of total offense in each of the last three SEC contests. Compared to the first nine games of last season, Arkansas is averaging more yards per rush (4.6 to 4.5), field goals (16-of-20 to 6-of-9), tackles for loss (57 to 34), sacks (23 to 12), forced fumbles (13 to 10), fumble recoveries (8 to 7), PBUs (38 to 36) & QBH (25 to 20) in 2018 than 2017.

LSU looks to put 'Bama loss behind it against Arkansas

Santos Ramirez is under no illusion about how disappointing this season will be remembered for Arkansas.

The senior safety is just hoping at this point for one final memorable moment to cap his career in Fayetteville, a chance he will have when Arkansas (2-7, 0-5 Southeastern Conference) hosts No. 9 LSU on Saturday night.

"No matter what nobody says, we're still men and we're going to show that," Ramirez said. "You can't come in here and think we're just going to lay down for you just because we're 2-7. You've got to come up in here and fight."

Ramirez has plenty of reasons to put forth his best effort against the Tigers (7-2, 4-2), even though Arkansas is already well on its way to missing a bowl game for a second straight season. He is from Shreveport, Louisiana, and he's more than eager to put an end to a two-game losing streak to LSU.

It will be a tall task for a Razorbacks team that hasn't won an SEC game since last season and is the lone school in the league without a conference victory this season.

Especially against an LSU team that is still holding on to hope - no matter how remote - that it can climb back into the College Football Playoff picture after its second loss of the season last week - a 29-0 defeat at the hands of No. 1 Alabama. The Tigers will be playing their first road game in more than a month. Of more concern is how they'll bounce back after investing so much emotion into the shutout loss against the Crimson Tide.

"This is going to be a very tough road game after a disappointing loss to Alabama, but our team is going to bounce back and we'll be ready to go," LSU coach Ed Orgeron said.

DEFENSIVE INJURIES

Orgeron said safety John Battle will dress for Saturday's game, but that he would only play in an emergency situation. The senior was injured on the first play of last week's loss, and he has 37 tackles and three interceptions this season for the Tigers. Also, Orgeron said starting defensive lineman Breiden Fehoko won't play after not practicing all week because of an injury.

GROUND GAME

Arkansas running back Rakeem Boyd had rushed for 100 yards or more in three of the last four games, and he had 99 in the fourth game. The sophomore is one of seven SEC rushers with three 100-yard rushing games this season, and he will face an LSU defense that's allowing 147.2 yards per game on the ground.

MORRIS' INTERVIEW

First-year Arkansas coach Chad Morris once interviewed with Orgeron while the LSU coach was at Mississippi. Morris was then a high school coach in Texas and didn't get the job with the Rebels, with Orgeron hiring Hugh Freeze instead.

"I remind him every now and then when I see him that he didn't hire me," Morris said.

TIGER PRIDE

LSU is 7-0 in games following a loss under Orgeron, and the Tigers haven't lost back-to-back games since losing three straight in 2015.

RETURNING HOGS

Arkansas linebacker Dre Greenlaw and wide receiver Jared Cornelius are expected to return after missing time with injuries in a loss to Vanderbilt two weeks ago. Greenlaw is the SEC's active leading tackler with 300 stops, but he is battling ankle injuries and only played briefly against the Commodores. Cornelius missed the Vanderbilt game with an ankle injury.

Notes:

• Arkansas hosts No. 7 LSU on Saturday, Nov. 10, at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville in the final home game of the 2018 season. Saturday is also senior night, as the Razorbacks will honor 15 seniors in a pregame ceremony.
• The Razorbacks trail the all-time series with the Tigers 39-22-2, with the series dating back to 1901. Arkansas has won two of the last four meetings, picking up back-to-back wins in 2014 & 2015.
• The two teams have only met in Fayetteville four times, including each of the last three even years, while the first came in 1992. Both teams have two wins at DWRRS in the series.
• The Razorbacks dropped a 45-31 decision to Vanderbilt on Oct. 27 to move to 2-7 this season and 0-5 in conference play. Arkansas had an open date last week, while LSU dropped a 29-0 matchup with Alabama in Baton Rouge.
• Sophomore running back Rakeem Boyd posted his third 100yard rushing performance in four games after tallying 113 on the ground against Vanderbilt. He is one of seven players in the SEC with three or more 100-yard games this season.
• Arkansas linebackers De’Jon Harris and Bumper Pool combined for 21 of Arkansas’ 72 tackles against the Commodores. It was Harris’ fifth time this year to lead the team in tackles, while Pool posted the first double-digit tackle performance of his career.
Harris leads the SEC in tackles and ranks 24th nationally with his 93 stops, while Santos Ramirez is sixth in the league with 64 and Greenlaw’s 60 tackles in seven games is the ninth-best mark in the SEC. Greenlaw also leads all active players in the league with 300 tackles.
The Razorbacks are averaging 31.4 points and 389.6 yards per game in the team’s five games at DWRRS this season.

Last week Connor Limpert connected on a 55-yard field goal against Vanderbilt, which was the seventh-longest in school history. Conner is doing a good job for us this season, but I'm surprised a 55 yarder ranks that high for all time in school history.

THE OTHER GOLDEN BOOT

The Golden Boot will be staying at the University of Arkansas when the LSU Zeros bring it up on the bus today... It is very nice of them to deliver it to us.

Your Welcome and Thank you! I enjoy it and hope others get some enjoyment out of what my team and I do to. The PBP guys are GREAT at what they do and are easy to work with. Without them I wouldn't put the same amount of time into it.

BTW, JHicks is doubtful for PBP tonight as he is recovering from surgery. WiscoPig and HogFansReunited are good to go.

No. 7 Tigers Ready to Battle Arkansas for The Boot

http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=5200&ATCLID=211779957

Under Orgeron, LSU is 7-0 following a defeat. Thanks to a strong schedule featuring three wins against top-10 teams and four against top-25, the Tigers only dropped to No. 7 in the College Football Playoff rankings.

That means a win over Arkansas (2-7, 0-5 SEC) would keep Orgeron’s squad in the hunt for a 10-win season and a New Year’s Six bowl berth.

“This team's got to be mentally tough,” Orgeron said. “We got a lot to play for. This is a big game for us in terms of where we want to go in terms of how strong we can finish and in terms of if we do finish strong where we can end up, the things that we can do.”

Defensively, LSU became the first team to stop Alabama from scoring a touchdown on its opening drive last week, and Todd Harris became the first player to intercept a Tide pass this season. The Tigers rank second in the nation with 15 interceptions, paced by five from Bednarik Award semifinalist Grant Delpit.

His fellow Bednarik nominee, linebacker Devin White, has 84 tackles on the year, ranking him fourth among SEC defenders. Their task will be to tame an offense coached by Chad Morris, a proponent of the spread offense in his first year as Arkansas’ head coach.

“I have a lot of respect for him,” Orgeron said of Morris. “I know what he can do, I know what he did at Clemson. He's an excellent game day calle. He put 31 points on Alabama, had an excellent game plan, so we do respect his offense.”

LSU’s offense, meanwhile, will look to get back into a rhythm in the air and the ground. The Tigers are 15-0 under Orgeron when they feature a 100-yard rusher, so establishing Nick Brossette (702 yards, 10 TDs) and Clyde-Edwards Helaire (535 yards, 5 TDs) will be critical.

The Tigers will also look to get a big game in the air. Joe Burrow and Justin Jefferson continued their effective connection against Alabama last week, linking up on six passes for 81 yards. Burrow, the two-time SEC Offensive Player of the Week, has matched Alan Risher with three top-10 wins as an LSU starter, the most in school history.

Orgeron said he’s confident offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger will have the offense ready for Saturday.

“I think he's done an excellent job,” he said. “For us to beat Georgia by 20 points, I thought it was a great game plan against Georgia, it was excellent. I thought the comeback victory against Auburn was excellent I forgot how many points we put on Miami, 33 points on Miami, I think he's done a tremendous job there. Steve's a Tiger, an I'm very pleased with his work.”

In special teams, Cole Tracy remains perhaps the best kicker in the nation, accounting for 87 points, the most in the country at the position. He’s 21-of-24 on field goals and perfect in 24 point after attempts, and his 21 field goals rank third in single-season LSU history, just seven shy of the all-time record.

With three games left in the regular season, the Tigers’ focus is singular: win out, and let the postseason take care of itself. With two straight wins over Arkansas, there's also the chance to bring The Boot back to Baton Rouge for the third straight year.

“We're 7-2 now,” Orgeron said, “and we have a chance to have an excellent season. That's what we're going to look at and we're going to use that as a motivational tool.”

Battle for the Golden Boot - LSU vs. Arkansas

The Golden Boot is a trophy awarded each year to the winner of the Battle for the Golden Boot football matchup between LSU and its SEC rival Arkansas.

The trophy was introduced to the series prior to the 1996 season and since that time, the Tigers have won 12 of the 20 meetings between the teams.

Molded from 24-karat gold in the shape of the states of Arkansas and Louisiana, the trophy stands four feet in height, weighs nearly 200 pounds and is valued at $10,000. It is believed to be the heaviest trophy awarded in a college football rivalry.

After a win in the series, the victorious team keeps the trophy until the next year's. As of 2014, the Golden Boot is in the possession of Arkansas.

ARKANSAS VS LSU SERIES
All-Time Record: LSU leads 39-22-2

This will be the 22nd time Arkansas has faced an AP ranked LSU team.  Arkansas' record against ranked LSU teams is 6-14-1, the tie of course being 0-0 in the 1947 Cotton Bowl "Ice Bowl" game against future NFL legend Y. A. Tittle.

I think the crowd may turn out to be decent just late arriving for most part due to cold. The best student section turnout this season easily.
