As of today, my biggest concern is sustaining support for Coach Morris and letting him do his thing.  I hate to see all the Morris-bashing.  Really disappointing.

Record as a college HC.   Everything looks good from the media fed POV.   Seems like he’s on the right track, but that record.   Sometimes we are what our record says we are.

That the aging Morris is simply in way over his head as a major college,
much less the SEC, head football coach.

My biggest CM concern is that he is a recruiter but not an in-game coach who can adjust to whatever scheme he is coaching against.

That the program will never rise above seven to eights wins in a year in the rest of my lifetime,

a secondary concern is more and more people in this state not even caring about Arkansas football.

My 14 year old nephew lives in Bentonville and is an Alabama fan, he watched their games instead of ours already, a couple of his friends pull for Bama, one for Florida

Maybe a return to winning will cure all this..I hope so.

I voted defense. That being said, I’m hopeful. We ended last year ranked #115 in total defense. We’re #81 now.  If we end up 34 slots better than last year, I’d say that was solid improvement.  We’ll see how the rest of the season ends up for our defense. The last couple years have shown us the difference between an awful defense and a woeful defense. This is a concern, but there’s some signs of growth.

Yeah we were projected preseason to be dead last in the SEC.  We don't have the speed to play Division II.  I think what you meant to say is our players as a whole are simply way below average for a major Power 5, much less SEC, program.

The ghost of Bear Bryant wouldn't win anything this year.

Strongly suspect Morris was hired with a wink and a "let's focus on recruiting, Coach" type recommendation.  Punt decisions not of critical importance this year.  They just arent.

That is what the Morris-Sucks crowd misses.

When I was young, we would set around the kitchen table and listen to the Hogs on AM radio. Didn't have FM here then. We made pizza on the night games. I was 5 when we won the NC. We got a TV in 67 so got to see the hogs play, like once a year, Texas game. Started going to games in early 70s. Have been every since. I met Frank Broyles several times, usually on a driving range or golf course.
Back then everyone around here anyway, listened to the Hogs. You would see people walking around with a AM radio and a head phone to their ear. If you went to the Walmart in Rogers, Sam would often be there, and the game was on the intercom.
I have every confidence that the Hogs will return to being a good team. Might take some time though.

Recruiting OL, player development, game planning, & in-game adjustments.

This.  Especially the last 2.  It’s cost us games this year.  That has to stop.

It wasn't all that long ago that many retail establishments would do this but alas, those days are gone.  Any sense of community was destroyed long ago (and yes, that observation reaches way outside the narrow lens of football).

That our desperation hire, middle aged, supposed wunderkind HC is truly as outmatched as he -- readily -- appears to be.

Losing winnable games, consistently, is a wickedly bad sign.

Some folks whine about player buy-in? If I smelled snake oil, I wouldn't buy in either.

Frito Pie ... because my true concern was not an option.

I'm most concerned about losing committed or potential recruits that could begin to turn this thing ... at this point in the season we are what we are and there's no hiding the record. Losses to teams who are offering players we're recruiting can't help our odds of getting those kids into the program. Kids flipping their commitments or reopening their recruitment will cause this program malaise to perpetuate.

We have to get these kids here and start building truly talented depth or nothing changes.

Need a D) ALL THE ABOVE  :-\

I' am trying to be optimistic but our OL problems will not be solved by next year and there is a good chance neither will our QB problems. Our DL will take a hit and it is our strongest unit as a whole. I think we will win more games maybe even qualify of a low tier bowl I think is the max out ( I have not looked at the non-conference schedule for next year).

While I like Leach a lot, he would struggle big time in the SEC.  Go look at his record in Wash State his first few years.

Leach has coached at WSU since 2012, in 2013 he took them to a bowl game. Bowl games in 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017 and all indications are that they will go again this year. At season's end he will have coached WSU for 7 seasons and taken them to bowl games 5 times, not too shabby!

He is one strange duck, but he does win pretty regularly.

Morris deserves 4 years, maybe 5 to show what he can do. Year 4 will be HIS team with his 1st class as juniors and his second class as sophomores. Plenty of time to get his system installed and get his players acclimated to the SEC.
If he shows solid progression in years 2 and 3 I think he is home safe. Year 4 should be his year to shine.

The absolute largest problem we have and nothing is a close second is the mental attitude of the players.  If this team was made up of 85 five star players and those players had the same attitude as our players do, they might could go 6-6 max.  Our players are exactly where their attitudes have taken them.  I still have faith in the HC and some faith in the staff.  I have zero faith in the overall attitude of the players.

People have a soverign right to their opinions but it is difficult for me to see how anyone can totally degrade this HC after three fourths of one season.  I see most of his ideas gong in the right direction and I see things thay he can control going in the right direction.  He cannot control the mental attitude of these pl

Those 6 inches between the ears is a fragile place but given the right development and acquired belief and faith, it can conquer what were previously considered to be insurmountable mountains that separated you from your goals. First step, develop belief that it will work with proper work and execution. At some point, this team is going to have to climb the hill as a team and get to the top, instead of falling short. When that happens, we will see this team develop at a considerably quicker pace. But they need respected leaders within the team to take them there.

I just don’t understand how so many people have jumped off the bandwagon because of a bad year in a first year head coach. People keep referencing his overall record and our record this year as an automatic predictor of future failure in this coach. His only HC experience is with taking over pretty much bottom of the barrel programs at the time he took over. I mean come on people. I’ve asked this multiple times on here but if we were 7-2 would everyone be on the bandwagon that he was an excellent hire? There are plenty of instances of first year coaches having significant success (and I’m sure their fans at the time thought they had struck gold) only to find that by year 3-4 they had regressed and the coach was fired(I’ve named names before and if you want specific examples I’m happy to do so). My point is, whether he does awful, or does really well in year one may or may not have much bearing on if he is truly a “successful” coach at a particular program. Only time will tell. What I can see is a potential for an exciting offense and a guy who (especially in year one where we have not looked great and an overall poor record) appears to be doing well on the recruiting trail and not just for Arkansas, but nationally as well. I personally am very optimistic for the future but I know I could be wrong. Again we have to give him some time.

Easy... Fans.  We probably have the most ignorant fans in the nation when it comes to understanding football and what it takes to build a winning program.  This season of all seasons has truly shown that.  I understand having hope, being optimistic and excited for the next season but the fan expectation for this season given how bad we have been the last couple seasons was just laughable.
