It’s the best game for him to start.  Will probably get in a couple more games this season.  Get the 4 games and not blow his red shirt.

Thank goodness their kicker is terrible. It ought to be something between 6 -14 to 0.  But they are hurting themselves.  We better get it together.

It seems like we've had a lot of kickers miss against us

It's because of my special hocus-pocus mental bending of time and space thing. Hard to explain, but I got it goin' on.

I think anyone wearing the number he has on his back won't be intimidated by just a "first start."

We need TY. I know Connor is a freshman but the offense was stale vs a non talented Tulsa team. Normally when you see freshman play you see a glimpse of potential and spark I did not see that in his play. Maybe it was play calling who knows

Connor was impressive in that he didn’t make a bunch of mistakes, but, he didn’t show “playmaking” talent today either.

No QB would with this offensive cast.  Especially a true freshman with only a handful of snaps to his name.  Bryant wouldn't show playmaking talent with this offense either.

Not with the HDN conservative calls we saw today.

Must be the same one the Cajun has, didn't see anything special from Kelly either.

I didn't mean for it to be harsh.  I just meant that todays performance was very vanilla.  No highs, no lows  (once past the interception).  Against NtS, he showed some flashes of something more to come.

We still did better with Noland than I think we would've with CK.

I thought Noland looked very good today considering it was obvious the play calling was heavily tilted towards playing a not to lose style.  He's not going to be confused with having KB style athletic ability but I'd wager KB is not in his league when it comes to throwing the ball either.

If he's considered the future of our program, I'm good with it.

You could see his arm talent. His accuracy/judgement just looked very "1st start freshman". But he was hurried some etc also. He seemed to be able to zip it downfield with little effort however which is always a good sign for a new QB. He made the physical act of throwing downfield look easy to be more specific which shows his natural talent.

So, in other words, if we ever lose by a field goal we can blame you for letting down?

I thought the interception was more of a good play by the defender than a bad decision by Noland. He made up for that with the deep middle throw right into the free safety. That one ended up incomplete, so it washed in the stats.

10-16 for 124 yds 1 TD, 1 int

That's a 1960s stat line in 2018 -- Fred Marshall was 11-19 for 131 yds against Nebraska. Which isn't meant as a knock on Noland, but it shows how Morris and Craddock tried to manage their situation in the "hammerdown" offense. Last year against Tulsa, SMU threw 20-34 for 366 yds.

A nice start for Noland, but if we're going to beat an SEC team this year, I believe we'll need Storey back.

You do know that was by design, don’t you? Just did what we needed to do to get the win. No need to try and get fancy and put CN in situations he may not be ready for, which could lead to TO’s and give Tulsa a chance.

I agree that it was a bad decision and shouldn't have thrown it but, it was a still good throw and would have hit the receiver in stride.  He's smart enough to learn from that.  I forgot who the receiver was but he hit one up the right sideline that was roped about 30 yards and once again in stride.

I just try to keep in mind he was playing at Greenwood this time last year.  He throws a very catchable ball and seems to know when to zip and when to put some air under it.  I like the guy.

Yeah, his throws looked really good, with plenty of distance, just needs to learn to read the defense a little better/faster.  That throw down the sideline where he overthrew Woods was great, he put it where only his receiver could get to it, and if Woods hadn't gotten tangled up with the DB would possibly have went for a TD.

He's impressed me with his calmness.  He reinforced my view of his arm, accuracy and elusive quickness.  He really has the ability to drive a defense nuts when the pocket falls apart.   He has proven that he has improved and needs to get more snaps.

The hand off fumble down deep was on the other end of the field from me. Was that a drop, or miscomminicstion between Noland and the RB? The replay seemed to show the RB was expecting Connor to pull the ball?
