Perfect example of why i HATE running the QB

As a regular part of the offense. Unless you have a good backup it is just asking for trouble.

It worked out for Moana because he only took one really hard hit on a designed run.  Ty canít take that final hit.  Thereís no reason to.

The play that stumps me is the 'pass back across the field to the qb'.  While I may occasionally work, you are having your qb wait for a very slow ball to come to him -- while the db's or linebackers are teeing off.  just not a good concept imo.

Calling it at the most heated moment in the game is what surprised me.  It's like they decided to give Ole Miss a free hit on Storey.

And you think that justifies the call?  They knew Ole Miss would be coming hard and they had to know it was a risky play for Storey.

As my op points out, i hate running the qb so i hate using him as a receiver too. But if you are going to use him as a runner might as well put him in harms way as a receiver too.

It's twice as risky as a receiver, but I don't disagree with you.  I just didn't like it at the most heated moment in the game.

IIRC, that was the play after they had to seperate the players and flags were flying everywhere.  Ole Miss was obviously going to come hard the next play, so I don't know why you would put Storey in that dangerous position, at such a heated moment?  If it wasn't such a heated moment, then I'd be okay with it.

He just needs to learn to slide and not take every hit.  Heís dealing with maybe one of the worst snapping centers in the conference, and I swear you see multiple o lineman missing blocks on every play.  The throw back pass to him #60 basically stood and watched the defender run right past him to crush Storey

And that wasn't the #1 target on the play, we had the RB up the crease, but he didn't either see him, or wait long enough for him. Also, three old's blocks on the throw to Ty didn't help.

I believe the first target in the throwback was Hayden. He was stealing down the middle of the field. One defender held him for a second to slow him down; and I think Cornelius saw that and then checked down to Storey. I still think the ball could have been lobbed to Hayden over the middle of the field. Would have been close but he had a step on the defense.

Yes in this offense.  Plus our lack of a vertical passing game makes it even more necessary.

RPO qbs has been the way to go in college for a long time.

As a regular part of the offense. Unless you have a good backup it is just asking for trouble.

You are taking a higher risk  by running your QBbut lets face it Storey is not a very good runner and so puts himself in higher risk category by not dodging, sliding or running out of bounds but he is not a good enough passer to move this offense if he did not run the ball.

But if get a good running QB you will have higher success but also higher risks so you better have a back up plan.

I saw BYU lose 3 QB's one year.  It turned out ugly that year.

His running ability is helping the offense a lot but he needs to start sliding or going out of bounds.

No need to take those big hits and like you said we really don't have a good backup unless that freshman is good but we wouldn't know because they trot out Cole instead.

Cole is a good short yardage QB but he's no backup.

Yeah, Ole Miss would have lost that game if they had a QB that they ran a lot.
