Anyone else getting constant popups from some brighttag.com?
« on: September 26, 2018, 04:09:42 pm »

It's continually popping up on my screen, only getting it on HV though, so wondering if it's tied to here somehow. I keep hitting cancel on it, not about to accept it, but just comes back in a few seconds. Doesn't seem to prevent me from getting around the site though.

Oh, and if/when the Hogs get a new coach, FIRE HIM TOO!!!     ;)

Think it's a browser issue. Switched to Chrome, and no problem. Microsoft Edge was where I saw the issue.

Ever since the new look this sight has performed sporadically.  It's better on Chrome than Firefox, but Chrome now has issues as well.

I think that's correct. I have it on Microsoft Edge. This is the only site I have the issue with, and cleaning cookies didn't help. And it just started tonight. I wonder if it may be related to one of the ads running?

https://tinyurl.com/Google-Search-for-Bright-Tag

https://tinyurl.com/ybk3ucwv

This appears to be some sort of adware or Amazon Analytics that is from (not originally of course) the Hogville website. It doesn't appear that it actually infects the machine, but is annoying just the same and can probably only be fixed by the host site.

I see it also on Edge, but not on Chrome or  Firefox.

Clearing cookies made no difference for me.

Nope.  Stay off of Pornhub, I hear it's the #2 rated site in Arkansas right behind Hogville.

I run ad ad blocker and don't see the pop up.  I just have laggy response time.  Better on Chrome, but it has the occasional issue as well.  And this is the only sight that I experience this.

Sometimes I have hyperlinked words in the posts, too.  Hate that crap.

s[dot]brighttag[dot]com is a hacker/malware advertising domain.

If you are getting these popups you probably have a virus. Remove it with Malwarebytes or something similar.

It is *possible* that the ads are being injected by an unscrupulous ISP or a bad actor on public wifi, since Hogville forums are not secured with TLS (SSL), but that is much less likely than the most probable explanation, which is that you have installed (intentionally or via malware) a browser assistant or other trojan/adware that is "helping" you find some extra ads you would otherwise be missing... :P

In this day and age, no very good reason. Inertia?

It's just a message board?

It's also happened to me and only on Hogville. I use Chrome, so it's not the problem. During the EIU game, I was getting redirects from Hogville to EIU websites, which I'm sure were not coincidental.
