It's just too hard for me to do. Every time I start a list I end up switching out names until I just give up. I just don't want to leave anyone off.

Funny how the QB that lead us to two back to back Cotton Bowls and last outright conference championships is left of the initial list of 20 names.  Seriously you are even going to consider a Shawn Andrews, Ken Hamlin, Jason Peters, Tyler Wilson before Quinn Grovey?  That's not a difference of opinion it's just stupid.  Some of these guys were very good players when here, but their pro careers may be clouding some judgement, along with recency effect.

Hmm...I want to limit mine to players I have actually watched and instead of 5 on my mountain, I want a rep from each position group.

Ryan Mallett
DMAC
Hunter Henry
Shawn Andrews
Jarius Wright (receiver is a tough one)
Steve Atwater
Chris Houston
Henry Ford/ Wayne Martin
Spaight/Caver/Conley (LB is also tough)

RB, TE, and S there is little doubt about who our all time greatest was (even not limited to who I have seen), but the other groupings are a little harder either because we've had several great ones or because we've had few worthy of Mt. Rushmore.

I did Darren McFadden - of course, modern Razorback greatness.  Frank Broyles, obviously. Jerry Jones - Also pretty easy, NC winning team and then a huge supporter of the program afterwords, and finally Matt Jones, since we also love to have a good time.  Plus, he carried some pretty so so teams to victory against LSU and Texas.

That's funny.  I made my picks before reading your post and chose the same 4.  The available choices show an extreme bias toward recent years, and there are many names on that list that have absolutely no reason for being there.

This should not be close. Alworth and Hampton are in the NFL HOF as players and that is the highest achievement one can reach in football. DMAC is the most decorated Razorback during his college career, and Frank is the Godfather. If I was to replace one it would be Loyd Phillips for DMAC, as they had similar decorated college careers.

Steve Atwater
Wayne Martin
Ron Faurot
Billy Ray Smith Jr.

Not really, DMAC isn't.

Bud Brooks and Loyd Phillips both won the Outland Trophy as well as being consensus AA.  Clyde Scott and Lamar McHan deserve a mention.

One does see age play a part, i.e., folks nominating a relatively recent player for Mt. Rushmore when said player probably isn't in even top 5-10 at their position.

Darren McFadden
Frank Broyles
Dan Hampton
Lance Alworth

This was my list, but I had Billy Ray instead of Dan. Dan probably makes more sense, given what he went on to do. But guess I was partial to Billy Ray because (I think) he started every game of his 4-year Arkansas career. That may never be done again.

Dmac and Broyles are no brainers.  It is the other two that I'm struggling with.

IF you consider their pro careers also then I would put Alworth and Hampton. but if your just considering just what they did as Razorbacks I  think Lloyd Phillips would be ahead of both.

I could also see a case for Jerry Jones.   He was Captain and All conf on our only National Championship team, Plus all he has done for the program after his football career, and he is probably the most famous former razorback.

And if you want to go old school there is Clyde Scott.
