Brandon Allen
« on: August 09, 2018, 09:41:22 pm »

Just saw he got in the game and scored the Rams only touchdown. Good for him. I know it was against scrub defenses, but any positive publicity is good for him.

Stats so far:

9/13 for 68 yards and a TD

Yeah the Allen brothers were great QBs for us. Talented and tough, and always handled their business well. Proud they were talented local kids who stayed home to be a Razorback for life.

I would call BAís last season pretty great. He had a 6-TD and 7-TD game in SEC play. We may never see that again.

Yeah Senior year BA was amazing. Hey he made it through a season on a gameday NFL roster. When you only have like 52 spots thatís pretty big.

Those 2 games against the Mississippi schools were crazy good.

11/07/15   @ 10 Mississippi    W 53-52   33/45   442 yards and  6 TDs with 0 INTs  (with the game winning 2 pt. conversion)

11/21/15   Mississippi State    L 50-51   30/43   406   yards and 7 TDs with 0 INTs (lost on a blocked field goal)

That Miss State game still pisses me off. Why did Bret take the football out of BAís hands to give it to our kicker, who had been incredibly inconsistent to that point in the season?

He also got put on his back a lot, and got right back up. That also brought back some memories. I know he didnít get sacked a whole lot during  his career but he got destroyed many times after he threw.

Watched a replay-  he had one really nice throw, on the score. A 13 yd. TD on 3rd dn.. Other than that, it was a rough outing that included a sack fumble in Ram territory.
Hope he bounces back and secures his spot.

Brandon Allen finished 10/15 for 73 yards and a TD.  That is not a rough outing.

The other Ram QB had a rough outing: Mannion 3/13 for 16 yards - 0 TDs and INT.

BA has been great in literally every NFL opportunity he has had. Seems like he has the best stats of anyone on the roster every preseason.

Replay of the TD pass--perfectly placed.

Proud to have been one of BA's biggest supporters here when he was taking a Hogville thrashing on a regular basis. Someone even suggested I must be an Allen family member. Ha, I wish. So pleased to see him doing well.

He is a good and tough player. What I saw this game was indecision at times and holding the ball too long. He has to be quicker in read and recognize the blitzes and throwing the ball away rather than get creamed.
That said, Brandon most certainly can carve out an NFL career for himself. I'm pulling for him.

okay, I could blow sunshine up your hiney and say that Brandon (who, far and away was the best QB we've had since Tyler Wilson) is going to play an integral part in the Lambs offense, but I'd be lying and the Good Book (according to the Revelation of St John the Divine) says that those "who are dogs, sorcerers, and whoremongers and murderers, idolaters, and whosever LOVETH and MAKETH a LIE" are going to a place which will be quite hot. Anyway, so I endeavor to tell the truth as much as I can and I think, not hope, but think, that B.A. will get cut and a more experienced NFL QB will be brought in to the Lambs. Who knows, the guy they bring in might be Ryan Mallett. We shall see.

Goff was not very good as a rookie, but was well above average last year after they picked up a Pro Bowl LT, totally revamped the line and got better at WR.

If you just judged Todd Gurley by 2016, you'd probably say he wasn't good either.. last year he was hell on wheels, a totally different player than the year before.

The average fan seems to think all O linemen are the same, you just pick up a bunch of fat guys at the bus station and roll...

Having a good line makes a world of difference along with ditching Fisher's caveman offense..

The Rams may well bring in a retread QB to be the #2 guy, but it may not be BA getting cut, but Mannion.

The myth of Ryan Mallett never ceases to amaze me. He was good here, overrated but good, but has been a dumpster fire in the NFL like every Petrino QB has been in the NFL.

Playing like crap, then showing up late for practice is not a prescription for staying on an NFL roster. Baltimore preferred the egomaniac, one year wonder RG III to Mallett.. let that sink in as they say..

And no one's eternal destination is dependent on what they think of ANY football players' ability or inability..

Indeed.  They were both Tyler Wilson tough.  I.  Brandon's and Austin's mom fed them a bowl of rusty scrap iron and bent nails in kerosene sprinkled with gridiron dirt for breakfast every morning.

That Miss State game still pisses me off. Why did Bret take the football out of BAís hands to give it to our kicker, who had been incredibly inconsistent to that point in the season?

Wasn't the problem with that game when Bielema put an inexperienced guy on the line during the field goal attempt?...which was where the kick block came from?

You're both right. Playing for a fg considering how hot BA was, was dumb. MSU took advantage of the weak link.

Barring injury he literally had ZERO chance to beat out Goff for the NFL illiterate/homers in this thread.

However he would do very well for himself to beat out Mannion and position himself to be the back up QB, make the 53 and be active every week

Ironic, referencing the bible, and sinning in the exact same post that you do so.

Further, I love your line about BA being the best qb since TW. There quite literally was no other qb for Arkansas in between the two. Might as well say that May is the best month since April.
