Made this today on the egg, spanish seafood paella.

I'd heard about it and wanted to try it.  Turned out pretty good.  It's kinda like a spanish jambalaya with chorizo instead of andouille.

I appreciate it and it was pretty darn good.  Those are mussels.  I thought about putting clams in it, and Whole Foods had them, I just didn't.  This was a trial run today for when we have friends over and I think I'll go the clam route next time.   I was trying to get a feel for how much it would make.

What seasonings did you use?

Surprisingly not all that many.  Marinated the chicken meat in paprika/oregano/salt and pepper for an hour or two and cooked them and the chorizo in olive oil. Pulled them when they were about done and sautéed onions, peppers, garlic and parsley.  Added a can of plum tomatoes and a pinch of saffron and that was about it.  The chorizo adds a ton of flavor.  Next time I have some smoked alligator and pork sausage I'll use instead of the chorizo.

13 mussels? This is the second time I've seen you add exactly 13 of something.  Weird..... :)

LOL!!  I bought 18 mussels plus a 1 1/4 pounds of shrimp and I was running out of room to place the damn things!

This is what I used.  I read where you need to use a short grain rice like they use in a Risotto and I found this at Whole Foods.  Here you go.

I ordered some a while back but we just never have gotten around to cooking it.  Shag even gave me a paella pan one year and I haven't used it once yet.  I think the rice I bought (ordered on amazon) was bomba rice (maybe???)
